Spug 06-26-2011, 12:12 PM I have a 2004 Vic KP with less than 12,000 miles on it. Went to start last Sunday - spun good but would not start. I took it to the deal and they tell me the injector pump is gone - the estimate is $500 parts + $350 labor . Seems kinda high priced to me. Thanks Spug 2004 Vic. A bike sitting a lot is not in better shape than one being ridden and maintained. Spug 07-10-2011, 11:20 AM I suppose your probably right, due to the long winters here in Idaho the bike sets about 6 months out of the year. I hope the fuel pump holds for a long time, it cost $850.00 to replace it. I am not looking forward to a second round of repairs. The dealer told me that dirty unfiltered fuel can also cause fuel pump failure. Thought I would pass that on for what its worth. Spug 07-10-2011, 03:19 PM I have been running and storing the bike with av gas (100LL). It doesn't sour in the tank and is non corrosive. It runs good on the stuff too. Unfortunately my tank is empty and I will have to buy auto fuel at the pumps from now on. I will definitely do what you suggest, Thanks Spug 04 Vic KP visionjohnny 07-10-2011, 07:27 PM Just make sure you have a full tank when storing. You don't have to get carried away just have it close to full. Second don't run the bike down till the light comes on get gas when you have a 1/4 tank left. They say with little gas in tank you can burn up your fuel pump. With ethanol in our gas thats just cheap alcoholic and it keeps gas from icing up and keeps gas stabil some what. I try not to ever run that gas but come winter here in minnesota I will top my tank off with ethanol gas before the blanket goes on the bike. | ||
