Ok, so tourers NEVER turned my head in the past, but lately I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to get my wife to ride with me comfortably.

All seating options seem to fail for my Hammer S, and even all the way up to the Crossroads won't seem to work.

We test rode a Harley Road Glide yesterday, and my initial fear of a monster sized bike has been overcome, but the RG just isn't as smooth or nice as my Vic, so with Vic I'll stay.

While I feel I'm a bit young for the look of a Vision (I'm just under 40), I came across a few customs that made me realize that with the trunk off, I can have a sick looking street bike:

So I have many questions, and yes... I'm doing research by searching online as well... but hey, we all love to talk about the bikes we own, right? Thanks



1) I kow I want all options, so Premium it is. My question is... on these models that come with a trunk, is the trunk removeable?? This never seems to be discussed in any Vic literature I can find. I want it OFF when I am solo (90% of the time) but want it ON for my wife so she feels like she is sitting in an easy chair ;)

2) If the answer to number 1 is YES... how easy/hard is it to take on and off?

3) Are there good power adding options for the Vision? I don't know how different it is set up from say a Vegas or Hammer. I want to probably add another 20+hp

4) For those who ride 2-up alot: Do you think with the windscreen up FULLY losing an inch off of it would be bothersome to the passenger? I ask because when riding around on surface streets, solo, I'll have mine retracted, but want a more custom look for it to sit lower... so I want to shave 1" off the overall height, so when it's down... it's really down.

5) How much slower are you having to take turns on your Vision compared to a standard Vic like a Vegas or Hammer? I'm an aggressive rider, and I know I'll be losing clearance and have to make a slower approach, but is it a huge difference?

6) How is the stock seat comfort? I know it's not as bad as a Hammer because the bike is intended from the factory for long hauls, but do I *need* an aftermarket seat to do a couple hundred miles comfortably?

Yes the trunk is removable, but you will never remove it...I even bought the trunk rack and the cover piece for the hole it leaves....but I haven't ever fooled with it...

There are 4 bolts that hold it on...There is a video on YouTube showing how it comes off and goes back on

Get a set of Lloydz cams, fueler, and additional air intake...It'll get you at least 27% more HP and torque

SLOWER :ltr:....PLEASE faster mind you...I can take turns on Cherohala Skyway and other East TN roads at 55 MPH or faster...Don't think a Hammer or a Vegas could keep up! :crzy:

NO the stock seat is VERY COMFORTABLE!! Can ride hours on end with no problems...Can do a 500 mile day no problems...thumb up

+1 for EVERY answer form Joe, except that I only have the stage 1 kit and it gives me more power than I need, two up.....just in case you haven't watched the trunk removal video, it's a seat removal, then a 4 bolt trunk removal.....max 10 minutes. (I also have the fill piece, but have never taken the trunk off....)

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the handling of the Vision. It rides much smaller and nimble than it looks!! Clearance will be an issue but something you can adapt to. If you are looking at doing what is done to the the Vision in your picture you can forget about ground clearance. Thats HMD's Vision and it is lowered.

Stock seat is very comfortable BUT Angel has done test rides on both the Vision tour and XC with tour pack with me. She said head over heels, without a doubt the XC was much more comfortable and gave her more room. She said "I can fall asleep on the back of this". She was refering to the XC.

With a push of a button the windshield goes up and down and you stay dry in the rain ( some what) and when its down you get a very nice breeze.
If you go for cams you'll have to drop croutons for the h-d guys to find you cause they can't keep up.
You can hook up your IPOD and look at the radio window and see whats playing and with a push of a radio button you can change songs.
The truck comes off in fifteen minuets and going back on you might need the wife's hands but then maybe not.
Very easy to do your own oil changes.
If you like your tires to last the rear is a bitch but then thats only once a month to check the air.
You'll be asked a lot of questions about the vision. You and the wife will find new towns and back roads with the enjoyable comfort of the bike.
It was 106 here on Saturday and still put on a hundred and fifty miles. About 45 mpg.
Maybe wait till the 26th when Vic brings out there new bikes i hear maybe a muscle cruiser model

Sounds to me like you are looking for a 2009 or 2010 Ness Vision. I have the 2009 and love the way it looks and handles.
