: Vegas 8-Ball
Gashouse Gorilla 05-13-2008, 08:16 PM Hello,
I'm brand new to this forum and excited to be here. I currently own a 2003 CBR600RR which I love but lets face it.... NOT COMFORTABLE. So I'm looking to get a bike I can ride for more than 5 minutes and still be comfortable. My dad bought a Kingpin and I love it, but the Vegas 8-ball just does it for me. I have read a ton of reviews on Victory and it is hard to find a bad one. My concerns are 2 up riding and the 5 speed. My wife won't ride on my other bike so I'm hoping she will ride with me on this one. I see that I can add a second seat but is this a good bike to ride with a passenger? Is this the right bike for us? Does anyone know what the advantages or disadvantages of the 5 speed are? I can't seem to find any reviews about it good or bad. We would be primarily riding in durations of 2 to 3 hours at a time at most. Any insight would help me make a decision. I plan on buying one this weekend, and just want to make sure I'm make the right choice.
Gashouse Gorilla 05-25-2008, 08:48 PM So since I didn't get any feedback from anyone on the 5 speed, I still decided to get one. I bought an 07 leftover last weekend. I absolutely love it. The 5 speed doesn't seem to be an issue at all. I hope this may help anyone questioning the 5 speed vs. the 6.
Gashouse Gorilla 06-08-2008, 02:57 PM So I have almost 900 miles on my bike now and I'm not looking back. When I bought the bike I had them put the stage 1 black shotgun exhaust kit on. It seemed to be back-firing a bit on decelleration so the dealership reprogrammed the ECU to richen it up a bit. It has helped tremendously. The bike pulls hard in all gears and really barks with those pipes.
cnapierala 06-10-2008, 08:49 AM Thanks for updating your post. Im also looking at a 8 ball soon and was wondering about the 5 speed. Did you ride one with a 6 speed? Is the 5 speed setup the same as the 6 speed just minus a gear or are the gear ratios different? What kind of RPMs are you running at 65mph?
Gashouse Gorilla 06-10-2008, 08:02 PM I'm glad you find the info to be useful. Unfortunately, I didn't drive any of the other models with the 6 speed so I can't give you a comparison. I was told at the dealership that the gear ratios are the same minus the gear. The 8 Ball doesn't come with a tach. but my father's kingpin has the same 100CI motor with the 5-speed as well. Driving his at 65 you are running a hair over 3000RPM. I don't recall off the top of my head what they redline at but I think it's around 5500 so you still have plenty of motor left. Part of my drive into work is highway and I can tell you that I don't feel an overwhelming urge to shift again until I hit around 80. At 80 you still have plenty left but she starts to get a little on the loud side. What I can tell you about the 5 speed that I do like is, I don't seem to be shifting all the time. I know my last bike was a different kind of animal but with the 6 speed I was constantly shifting to get within the "powerband". With the Victory, I can always tell what gear I need to be in and it always seems to pull. I'd be happy to try to answer any other questions you may have.
insaneoman41 07-09-2008, 11:56 AM i also have a 2007 8-ball and have never had any problems out of the 5 speed i came from a sportbike as well and really wasnt to sure about a 5 speed but it really dosent seem to be any issue at all, the bike seems to always have the power you need in every gear... if any of you are interested i do have to sell mine though, i lost my job and cant afford it anymore... its a 2007 vegas 8-ball only has 2500 miles on it i have the sage 1 kit with the swept chrome pipes, k&N filter and the performance air box, i have also added the passengers seat and pegs.. lemme know if you or anyone you know of might be interested im asking 13000 for it cuz thats what i owe... thanks for any help
VegasBabyVegas 07-11-2008, 12:31 AM great info here. I was looking at the 8-ball myself. I like the blacked out look. But I like a 250 rear tire more. Working on getting an 08 jackpot which I already have plans to get the black wheels and headlight. Great info on the 5 speed anyways!
Gashouse Gorilla 07-27-2008, 08:29 PM So I made a couple of upgrades over the weekend. I bought the black headlight and replaced the round chrome light. It was a pretty easy mod and took about an hour to do. I love the look and makes the bike look a little longer and a lot tougher!! I also bought the digital speedo. Highly recommended by me. It has a ton of features from performance to convenience. The install was a bit more challenging. Victory states 30 to 60 mins. but it took me about 2 hours which still isn't too bad. No cutting or soldering and everything plugs into the factory harnesses. I plan on taking a GPS with me to see how accurate the speedo is. Although I didn't mind the look of the factory speedo the digital has a black face when it isn't on. It kind of adds to the "black theme" of the bike even though the housing is still chrome. I posted on another thread but it is worth mentioning on this one.... you can put a 200 tire on a factory rim without making an mods. It fills out the fender a little bit but will caution people that do a lot of 2 up riding since the clearance is so tight it isn't recommended. Still love the bike and get plenty of looks. Probably some broken necks because of it!! :D
AutoXRacer 07-29-2008, 09:27 AM Thanks for all the info!! Keep it coming!!
My GF and I are in the market for a bike. Her dad has forever owned Harleys, so she is partial to that brand; we are looking at the Harley Night Rod Special. But I've been taking her to other brand dealers as well. The 8 Ball is one of the bikes I'm considering...since its $5K-$6K cheaper than the Harley.
So just to reiterate, a 200 tire is not recommended with a passenger...?
Also, has anyone ever done a mid-control modification of one of these? Or is the riding position comfortable? The Harley bike's riding position has you bent like a taco!! Leaning over the tank and forward foot controls; totally retarded!!!!
Any additional info and long term reviews would be awesome!!!
Oh, since the engine is air-cooled, do feel there would be any issues with overheating riding in 95 degree weather? Not that I would be doing much of that...but the weather gets a little hot out here in Florida...
Thanks again!!!
Gashouse Gorilla 07-29-2008, 09:46 PM Happy to help!!! I'm just excited that there is some action in here, instead of me talking to myself. The dealership that I bought my bike from did NOT recommend the 200 tire for 2 up riding due to tight clearance in the fender. I haven't done any research on my own to confirm or deny the claim. So far they haven't steered me wrong and I trust them. I did see 2 bikes there with the 200 tire on it so I know it can be done. Honestly, if he didn't point it out to me I never would have noticed the difference between the 200 and 180. That is a good question about the temp. I live in Maine so we don't get nearly as many 95 degree days. We have seen a few this year and I haven't noticed any overheating, especially when driving. I did buy the oil temperature dip stick (another highly recommended aftermarket purchase) I try to keep a close eye on it, in a lot of city driving or stop and go scenarios. It actually seems to take a little longer to heat up thank my previous bike(CBR600RR). I suspect it has to do with the victory engine being open with no fairings around it. With that being said.... It does take a lot longer for it to cool down than the CBR600RR due to the fan kicking on at 220 degrees. Since the victory doesn't have a fan, once it gets up to temp. it's there for awhile until you start driving again. I think this is pretty typical for any bike idling for long periods of time.
As far as riding position.... I'm 5'7" and I find that it fits me almost perfect. Coming from a cafe style bike, the forward controls took me some getting used too. I don't know how many times in the first 2 weeks my feet were searching for the pegs. Now that I'm used it, it is second nature. If you have owned cruisers it shouldn't be an issue. I do wish that the handle bars were back maybe a 1/2 inch. By no stretch of the imagination is it uncomfortable. Sitting in a straight up position I find that my shoulders are rounded a little forward. Victory makes some handlebar risers that could easily pull the bars back. It doesn't bother me enough to even consider changing it. As far as mid controls, I'm not sure. I believe but don't quote me that Victory makes some accessories that relocate pegs for shorter riders. How far I don't know.
I know my view is probably biased at this point because I LOVE this bike. For the money, pull the trigger you won't be disappointed. You're not one of the crowd, you're the ONE in the crowd! That is not a slam towards Harley's, obviously they are doing something right and make great bikes. They just got a 100 year headstart!! I did a lot of research and read a ton of reviews before I bought mine. I think you would be hard pressed to find a bad review or find someone dissatisfied with Victory in general. I think you would be surprised at how many "curious" Harley riders there are. I've had a couple of Harley guys tell me flat out, that they got there lunch eaten by a Victory. :D
If I could ever figure out how to shrink my pictures down to size I'll try to post some pics. This thing is the real deal!!!!
AutoXRacer 07-30-2008, 08:01 AM Thanks for the great info...
The Victory dealer I went to was awesome!! The guy did a very very good job selling me the bike and the company. We only talked about the bike for like 5 mins out of the 30 or mins I was there... lol
But he was very accommodating and showed concern regarding my lack of endorsement. He said that when you buy a bike from him, he covers your riding class and endorsement fees, plus a few little extra things here and there...
You really couldn't beat the offer... I'm just not financially ready to take the plunge just yet. I'm shooting for next year sometime.
My only disappointment is that the Vegas 8 Ball will only be available this year. There is no 2009 model in the all black option.
Gashouse Gorilla 07-30-2008, 09:09 PM I know what you mean about having enough cash to buy one. It is certainly a big investment. I think my local dealer is great too. NO pressure and very knowledgable. I haven't really looked around at the '09s yet, but disappointed to hear that they don't have the all black option. You maybe able to pick up an 08 leftover if the timing is right next year. I wish you luck man, ride on!
AutoXRacer 07-31-2008, 07:14 AM Thats what I figured... If I time it right, maybe I'll be lucky to find a left-over...though, with the way motorcycle sales have sky-rocketed lately, I doubt I'll find one...maybe a used one. :(
Thanks for all the great info!!
Gashouse Gorilla 08-03-2008, 08:25 PM I have listed some used parts that I no longer need on ebay if anyone is interested. I have the stock factory guages and plate, speedometer, and a round chrome headlight for sale. I also have the factory exhaust that I did not list on ebay but will sell if someone wants to make me an offer. All items are in mint condition and were taken off my bike at about 1400 miles, except the exhaust. It never made it out of the dealership on the bike, I took it home in a box.
Gashouse Gorilla 08-17-2008, 07:30 PM Just a quick post here. A buddy of mine wanted to check out a local Harley dealer so I reluctantly agreed to go. Since the new Harley models have dropped in price significantly this year he wanted to check them out. When we came out to leave I had 4 guys walking around my bike checking it out. :) I'm not a showy guy but I did get some satisfaction out of it. When I got up to my bike they all scattered in different directions and no one said a word, just like it was a dirty secret!! :) I won't trash on Harley's but I walked around and checked out all the bikes and I still don't think there was a bike there that can touch the styling of Victory. As far is my bike I just broke the 2K mark (Very rainy summer here). No problems to report and is running rock solid.
Gashouse Gorilla 08-26-2008, 08:16 PM I think I finally figured out how to post a picture of my bike. There will be more to come. I just recently purchased the 100CI wedge cover that should be in sometime this week. I'll take some more pics when that is complete.
Gashouse Gorilla 09-19-2008, 07:15 PM So just a quick post here, my buddy broke down and bought a Harley Street Bob. He paid 5k more than me and I only like it half as much as my bike. On his ride home from the dealership, the spring broke on his kickstand and started dragging on the road. The dealership was closed so he had to tie the kickstand up to get it home. :D Sorry, I just had to share. As far as my bike, I bought the 100CI wedge from another Victory dealership, got it home and was going to install it. The bracket they gave me wasn't even close to what I needed. So needless to say, I haven't got it installed yet. Once I figure out what I'm going to do, I'll post some pics. Anyone else added one of these to their bike? I'd be curious to know what you did? This same dealership (who has a terrible rep. in my area) also told me that it would only cost $40 to do. By the time we were done adding all the parts he forgot about it was $120! I guess I should have stuck with my original dealership.
Gashouse Gorilla 10-29-2008, 08:25 PM Well.... I hate to report it but I saw my first flakes of snow today so I'll be putting her away for the winter. In the past, besides removing the battery I have always topped the tank off and added Stabil. I'm curious to know what others are doing for storage. I have heard debates between topping the tank off and draining them. Any input?
KevDave - Calgary 11-02-2008, 09:33 AM Well, I finally brought home my Vegas 8-Ball last night. It's pre-owned, but very clean. It's a 2006 with 8700Km's on the odometer. Has a stage one, twisty-grips, Victory bags and a Windshield. Not sure how many other Canadians participate in the forum - but I paid $11,000.00 Canadian for the bike. I think I stole it! Anyways - it was only +9 degrees by the time we got back to Calgary with the bike last night - so was beginning to be a chilly ride. Looks like today may be the only chance to ride it before the snow is set to fly on Monday/Tue. I will be filling the tank and putting STABIL in as well, removing the battery and putting on the cover. I haven't heard of draining the tank - but I would be worried about condensation over the winter and eventual rust. Not sure that's the way I would want to go.
Gashouse Gorilla 11-02-2008, 01:55 PM KevDave,
Thanks for the insight on storage. Sometimes it gets lonely in here talking to myself! You make a great point about the condensation. I think the theory behind draining the tank, is to eliminate the gas from gelling, but that's why they make Stabil. I agree with you and doing the same unless someone else can convince me otherwise. Congratulations on your purchase. I'm not up on my exchange rates but I think if you feel like you stole it, that's all that matters! I hope she gives you many good years of safe riding. I still love mine as much as the day I bought it and can't wait to take her out again next year.
undernater 11-18-2008, 03:49 PM Hey Guys... I have an 05 Victory Vegas and I have a little issue. The brake light remains on all the time and I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue. Cound this be a grounding issue? Any ideas?
Bungln 11-19-2008, 05:25 PM KevDave,

i think that stabil is way over rated, not the stuff but when to use it. if you're only storing your bikes for 3-4 months you gas will be fine. i just fill the tank all the way up and have never had any problems.
as for the brake light being on, i'd look for a stuck switch, a short would cuz your fuse to blow.
Gashouse Gorilla 11-19-2008, 08:32 PM Thanks for the insight on Stabil. It's funny because I've heard both sides of the spectrum. I'll be pushing close to 5 months in storage, here in Maine. We have a short riding season.
As far as the breaklight, I agree. When you pull the hand break you should hear a faint clicking sound. If you aren't, it maybe a sticky contact that is stuck closed. Not sure how you can tell if it is being caused by the foot break. If it is a bad ground I would guess that it wouldn't work at all and if it is short it would blow the fuse for sure.
KevDave - Calgary 11-20-2008, 08:42 PM I mentioned in an earlier thread that I purchased a 2006 8-Ball a few weeks back. It's been stored for the winter now - but I am compiling my XMAS wish list! I have heard that you can install the 100CI wedge (kit available) for the right hand side of the bike. Does anyone have experience doing this? Any insight on cost - or simply how easy this is to do? I also want to replace the headlight - perhaps put on a Ness headlight. Anyone with experience on cost or how easy this modification might be?
Gashouse Gorilla 11-30-2008, 07:54 PM KevDav,
I have a little bit of info on the wedge for the right side of the eight ball. The wedge and 100CI badge should run you some where around $50. That is not including the price of the mount. I'll caution you that the newer style mount will not fit on the older bikes. They make oil lines with the mount welded onto that. Not sure what the new lines will run price wise, but I think that is the best way to go. Changing the lines shouldn't be to tough if you have any mechanical aptitude.
Gashouse Gorilla 11-30-2008, 07:58 PM KevDave,
Sorry, I missed the part about the headlight. I put the bullet style on a while back. Very simple install. It is pretty much a plug and play. Just keep track of your high and low beam wires and you should be all set.

Hi, I'm considering buying either the Kingpin or vegas 8 ball. i have the same concerns you expressed earlier. what are your thoughts now...is your bike ok for 2 up? 5 speed ok for that also?
Gashouse Gorilla 01-22-2009, 08:59 PM I would have to say yes to both questions. We both found the bike to very comfortable and no issues with 2 up riding at all. The bike has plenty of power to pull. Initially the 5 speed was a big concern but I actually prefer it over the 6. I don't feel the need to shift as much as I did with the 6 on my other bike. I was always trying to find the right gear but the 5 I don't seem too. If the majority of your riding is turnpike you may want to consider a 6 but really don't find it to be an issue at all.
rdmiran 01-23-2009, 05:09 PM the vegas is a great two up ride its well balance, depending on the year there was an issue with two up riding when you hit a dip or bump on the road there was a rubbing of the drive belt on the belt guard. I have an 07 Vegas and riding with two up rides better than my 04 HD road king classic with two up...the 8 ball is a great bike...they may have fixed this issue by now. I think all they did was re configure the belt guard...
blamegame 01-25-2009, 01:11 PM Hey Gas,
Thanks for taking the time in posting your comprehensive information regarding your 8-ball.. I have a 08 8-ball, and love it.. In an earlier post you mentioned handlebar positioning.. I am about your same height and had the dealer position the bars with about a 1/2" clearance above the tank (if that makes sense).. The controls may need to be adjusted slightly, But is very comfortable and follows the lines of the overall bike much beter.. Just a thought for you!!
Gashouse Gorilla 01-25-2009, 04:08 PM Blamegame, Thanks for the suggestion. I have actually toyed around with that idea a bit. It is such a minor issue to me I just haven't bothered with it yet. I think when I take it out again in the spring I'll probably pull the bars down a bit. I am glad to hear that it is possible to do and wasn't a 100% sure if it would interfer with the tank.
I am very curious about the post that that was put up about the belt guard rubbing issue. This is the first that I'm hearing about this and think I may have the same issue. I noticed that only when I'm riding 2 up if I hit a bump or a dip in the road the bike will make a high pitched squeak noise. It has never happened while I ride solo and it only happens every once in a while depending on the "bump". Both my wife and I could hear it but neither of us can figure out where the noise was coming from so we had kind of dismissed it since it doesn't happen all of the time. Has anyone else had this problem or know anything about this? Is there a fix? Is this a warranty item? If anyone has any information about this please let me know.
On a side note... I don't recall off the top of my head where I came across it, but I found a black speedo housing. I'm thinking about replacing the chrome one that it on it now.
rdmiran 01-25-2009, 06:26 PM I read some dealers know about this and all they do is grind down the belt guard where it rubs... not a big job and it should be under warranty
BATMAN 01-27-2009, 07:49 AM Thought I'd chime in here. As a Victory owner since '99, I have ridden every model they have had, and have owned 2. My current bike is a '92/5 TCD model. (58,000) If I had my choice, I'd go with the 6 speed, but ONLY because I do a lot of freeway riding. Riding backroads with my friend who has a 100/6 in his, he rarely uses his
6th speed, unless we go up over 60. And in fact, though I have the smaller motor, and my bike is much heavier, I can beat him in top gear roll ons. Freeway riding, his IS more relaxed above 60, and he seems to get better mpg. For those who want to lower their RPM's, there is a overdrive pulley available from the aftermarket.
Gashouse Gorilla 01-27-2009, 08:20 PM Batman,
I don't disagree with your statement about going with the 6 speed for highway driving. I think anyone that does even half of there riding on the highway should consider the 6. Since I live in Maine I do a lot of back road riding so the 5 suits me better. I have seen the overdrive pulley. Do you have any experience with it or know anyone who has one?
BATMAN 01-28-2009, 05:01 AM Batman,

Have not used one, but have have heard that many others love them. If you head over to the ***, (the largest Vic group out there) you can find many who have used this, as well as more information on Victory's then you can imagine. True, it is a pay group, ($15 to join, $8 to renew) but there is NO better place for great information. I think they also have a non-member area, so you can get an idea of what the site is all about. Pics, rides, get-togethers, aftermarket manufacturers, it's all at the ***.

I've had the same issue with my '07 Vegas. If the wife and I are riding and I hit a dip, I hear a High pitched squeak. It's really irritating, but I still love the bike.

The *** started back in '98 as a Yahoo club. I had just ordered my
'99, and happened upon the site, I think I was about the 7th one to join. As Victory got more popular, we outgrew the site, and formed our own club, the ***. It has now grown quite large, and IMHO is by FAR the best site available to the Victory owner, bar none. There are many in the club who make different parts for the bikes, and if you're looking for performance, there are a couple guys there who are THE premier Victory tuners out there. (check out
http://www.lloydz.com/ for example, I've had my stage I, '02 TCD tuned by him, and at 58,000 miles, it has never ran better)
I'm not trying to steal anyone away from this site, but for those who want more, try: http://www.******.com/start.html and see what you think. And tell them BATMAN sent you!
Gashouse Gorilla 01-30-2009, 09:00 PM I just joined the ***.
Gashouse Gorilla 02-03-2009, 08:57 PM So I'm told that the rubbing is not caused by the belt guard but by the front pulley cover. The fix is to preload the shock and that will minimize the rubbing. There is also a bolt in the top rear of the cover that needs to be ground down. I'm worried that preloading the shock is going to make the ride too stiff for riding solo. Anyone have any oppinions on that? I'm also thinking about buying the Ness Bastistini grips... anyone have any experience with these grips? I have read some pretty harsh reviews that they are too cold in the cold weather and too slippery in the warm weather from sweaty hands.

i had to grind down the bolt housing on the front pulley cover on my vegas after i lowered it to get rid of that rubbing. on ****** site someone has posted a pic on the tech bench section of just how far to grind it. it was pretty easy, just get the dremel out and take your time.
Gashouse Gorilla 02-05-2009, 07:57 PM So I checked out the pics on *** which is helpful but kind of hard to tell. I'm hoping it will make more sense when I take a look at the bike. From everything I read, that is the only conclusion that I can come too. Quite a few people have described it exactly. How much are you thinking that it will have to be ground down? Will it be obvious to me when I look at it?

I'm new here and to the Victory so I apologize if it may have already been mentioned and discovered but would a 08/09 Hammer Speedo/Tach combo work? The 09 Hammer's speedo/tach combo has a black housing. You may be-able to sell your combo and purchase this one?
By the way great thread!! You did a good job on communicating your experience with your bike Gashouse. I can't wait to pick up my new 2008 8 ball from the dealer in a couple weeks!
Gashouse Gorilla 02-20-2009, 08:55 PM Bdiddy,
Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that they came in black on the hammer. I changed my stock speedo a little while back and now have the digital speedo/tach in one housing. I highly recommend it, when you get your bike. It comes has a ton of features from the obvious speedo, tach... gear indicator(which is nice), a couple of performance indicators(0-60 time) and a gas gauge. Thanks for the kind words about the thread. I really enjoy talking with people about my bike and riding in general. I try to be honest about my likes and dislikes, although not many dislikes. I think that you will really like your 8 ball when you get it. It's hard living in Maine with the short riding season and I'm counting down the days until spring!!!
BDiddy 02-20-2009, 11:58 PM Whoops. Sorry, I must have mis-read. I thought you had installed the side by side analog tach/speedo combo. The Hammer, depending on which one, has the side by side as standard. The blue and white Hammer on the front of their brochure has the black casing anyway as well as the 08 at my dealer.
I like the fact that the digital has a gas gauge. My Suzuki Boulevard has a gas gauge and I really depend on it. I dont know how comfortable I will be on just depending on the gas light. Do the factory operating lights (gas, oil, battery, etc) get disconnected when you switch to the digital Speedo/tach? Did you purchase the tach from the dealer or on the net? I think the dealer wants +/-$300 for it?
I hear you on the weather delaying riding. Although in the Pacific Northwest we really only have to worry about when the rain will stop. Not when the snow will melt, mercury will climb, and chemical and salt will wash off the roads.
I am supposed to pick my bike up from the dealer next Friday but the 10 day forecast calls for rain, rain, rain. It may just sit there for two weeks before its dry enough to ride home.
Anyway thanks again for providing so much insight. Hopefully I can pick your brain from time to time about upgrades etc. Your bike is pretty wicked looking.
Gashouse Gorilla 02-21-2009, 07:27 PM BDiddy,
I may have mislead you on the digital gas gauge. It only displays "low fuel" kind of like the fuel light lighting up. Unfortunately, it doesn't show you how much fuel you actually have. My CBR used to have a true fuel gauge which I really liked and was disappointed that the Victory just had the light. One of the few dislikes that I have. When the light comes on you have about 20 miles, which doesn't sound like a lot but I have yet to get stuck. The factory dummy lights do get disconnected and you can replace them with a solid chrome plate. Unfortunately the speedo is a pricey item, fortunately it is the directions were fairly good and it maybe something you feel comfortable to install yourself. I bought mine from the dealer @ $289. You may want to check them out online to see if you can find it cheaper. I usually check ebay first before I buy anything but if it is close in price I try to give my local dealer the business. I just went to the dealership today and bought the MBW LED rear turn signals and the black Battistini grips. I'll let you know how that goes when I install them. Feel free to pick my brain anytime..... I don't have much to pick but I'll share what I can. :)
Thanks for the compliment on the bike.... I think she is pretty wicked too!!
Gashouse Gorilla 03-08-2009, 07:12 PM So, I just installed my new MBW led blinkers today. After being forwarned about the risk of blowing your ACM, if your not careful.... I can say no casualities. They bolted on slicker than s$%t, and wired in nicely. I think it really cleans up the look of the bike and shows off the rear tire. I also bought a side mount license plate with led lights. Other than running the new from the plate mount, that was a piece of cake too. I'm very happy with the overall install and look of the bike. I didn't have time to install my battistini grips. I'm a little unsure of how much I will like them, but they sure look nasty! Still trying to figure out how to mount the 100CI wedge with out the right bracket. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
BDiddy 03-08-2009, 10:02 PM Where are the pictures? I received my speedo/tach combo Friday so I'm just waiting on my bullet headlight to be delivered before I install both of them. The rear turn signals and side mount license plate were my next upgrades but I did a little customizing of the stock license plate bracket that should satisfy me for the time being. I posted a picture of the hack job in the gallery.
Post pics of the rear turn signal and side mount plate when you get a chance...
Gashouse Gorilla 03-15-2009, 06:02 PM Finished installing my Battistini grips today. A fairly painless install, with the exception of having to shave about an 1/8 inch. off the throttle side bar. I also grinded down the bolt boss on my pulley cover. Hopefully that will stop the squeking noise. Sorry, no pics. I forgot my camera.
Gashouse Gorilla 03-18-2009, 08:07 PM Well, I don't know about anybody else but I'm starting to get tired of combing through the spam to find a legitimate posts!! Anyway, I was able to take my bike out for the first ride of '09 today!!!!!! The temp was in the 50's and I couldn't resist. Unfortunately to get out to the main road I had to drive my bike though the 'ssippi hole. I cruded up my bike in good shape but it was worth it!! I'm not sure how I'm feeling about the Battistinni grips on the first ride. First impression is.... not super comfortable. I'll give it more time before I decide.
blackedout8ball 03-21-2009, 09:56 PM Hey guys...just wanted to drop in and say whats up...first time here. But i just bought a new vegas 8ball. Comes in, in 2 weeks. But im excited. Im 25 yrs old and i grew up racing dirtbikes and wheelrs and raced rockets for years. Have had rockets since i was 16 but its time to grow up now haha. Just wanna say thanks for all the interesting posts and info.
Now as far as the bike, i ordered the blacked out victory pipes, the black headlight and i wanna lower the bike and put a 200 tire on the bike. Ha i havent even got the bike yet but i like to be prepared. So does anyone have a 200 tire on the back and if so do you like it. I dont ride a lot of two up so im not worried about that, but i will also make any mods i need to to make it fit.
Thanks guys and look forward to chat with you guys

mustangpalmer91 04-19-2009, 09:31 AM Just got myself a 07 victory 8ball I LOVE IT paid 9k with only 66 miles on it stage 1 wraped exhaust and intake, and llyods stalth fuel controler over 2k in aftermarket parts i couldnt resist the deal.
skisby 04-29-2009, 06:46 PM Hi all 200 miles into my '09 8-ball, what a blast! I had the dealer install the digital speedo / tach as I was used to having a tach / clock / gear indicator.
Gotta say I wish I had spent my $400 elsewhere. Speedo is +/- up to 4mph off, gear indicator has a worse guess than mine. I tried the resets, etc - no luck. I'll see if I can get the dealer to take it back & get a nice seat instead.
TTLC603 04-30-2009, 12:03 AM Alright after much looking and decision making I pulled the trigger. Grew up riding dirtbikes and ATV's and had a CBR600 for 2 years. I bought my first cruiser last year a 2004 Suzuki VL800. I got used to it and needed something bigger. Went to the local dealership yesterday and pulled the trigger. 2008 Victory 8-Ball leftover. I got an awesome deal 11,400 with a 5 year warranty and the black Shotgun Exhaust. Im really interested in blacking everything out. If you guys have prices on the headlight and black guages let me know. Only rode it 75 miles today but I am very impressed. It also helps to have the fuel injection compared to the carb. But so far I am in love....let summer begin. If anyone if headed to NH for motorcycle weekend and wanna come for a ride around some back roads send me a PM
BDiddy 05-02-2009, 10:35 PM Welcome TTLC603, My first cruiser was an 04 volusia as well. I bought that bike last year and then bought an 08 8-ball this year for the same reason you did. Was used to the Vol and wanted something bigger. :)
You can pick up the black bullet headlight for around $244 on ebay. Make sure you pick up part number 2876411-266. There are 2 different part numbers for the black bullet headlight and the other part number will not fit a 2008 bike.
If you want to go with a black speedo bucket they are on clearance on purepolaris.com. Black 2875062-266 $44.99 ea.
Here's a picture of my bike with the bullet headlight. A picture of my old Vol is in the gallery.

Gashouse Gorilla 05-25-2009, 07:21 PM So I just started having some problems with my digital speedo and looking for some suggestions. I noticed about a week ago I at idle my speedo was reading 8 mph. It snaps out of it when I'm driving and will read the correct mph, but when I stop at lights or idle in neutral right back to 8 mph. I have also noticed that if I am backing the bike up while idling it will drop back to 0. What is going on? I have unplugged the battery hoping that it may reset the speedo but no luck. Has anyone else seen or heard of this happening?
BDiddy 05-26-2009, 12:52 AM Gorilla maybe you should check the wire harness to make sure that a connection didnt come loose.
Gashouse Gorilla 05-26-2009, 08:26 PM Diddy,
I was hoping you were going to say that, if I waved my magic wand it would fix it. The thought of opening the headlight and sorting through that rats nest is less than appealing to me. Unfortunately, that was my first and only thought too. If it's not a loose connection, I have no idea what else it could be. It's really not that big of a deal but worth the effort at least checking it. I just finished running a new wire for my side mount plate light and had about enough wiring to last me for a little bit.
On a side note, I went to a bike show at a local bar this past weekend. I was able to speak the the S&S rep and questioned him about the breather kit.... 20 HP increase. $329 bucks for 20 HP (if you install yourself) isn't a bad trade off. It's looking like that will be my next mod.
I also talked to a guy who had his bike dyno tuned a couple of years ago. He went from 33 mpg to just over 50 mpg and said his bike has never run better. Anyone had their bike dyno'ed?
Gashouse Gorilla 05-31-2009, 08:10 PM So I had an interesting morning, and figured out what was wrong with my digital speedo. Went to start my bike this morning and nothing......turned the key on everything looked great, fuel pump kicked on. I pressed the start button and everything shut off. Completely dead. Fearing that my battery was drained, I threw the charger on but the battery was showing a full charge. I checked all the fuses and they seemed to be fine. I took the headlight apart and unplugged every connection in a desparate attempt to find a loose connection. Still nothing. I happened to wiggle the positive lead on the battery and saw a small arc..... everything back on and running. I took the lead off and cleaned the battery terminal and lead. Coincidently enough, when I fired the bike back up... digital speedo worked mint. I suspect that the lead hasn't been making good connection for a little while and just needed to be cleaned. Just thought I would share and maybe save someone some time if it every happens to them.
BDiddy 06-03-2009, 12:07 AM Isn't it a good feeling when it's something so simple? Glad you figured it out and didnt have to take it into the shop.
Gashouse Gorilla 06-06-2009, 08:01 PM Went to my local dealer today to have the S&S air cleaner kit put on. It completely woke that bike up!! Not that I have ever been disappointed with performance before but what a difference. S&S claims that the gains are up to 20 hp but the guys at the shop seem to think that it's an agressive estimate. They have been seeing 8 or 9 hp gains. I would have to say one of the best upgrades I've made to the bike so far.
kwdunlap 06-17-2009, 01:27 PM iIhave had my 8-ball for just over a year now and have not had many problems. The one problem I have had is that my bike is burning rich. i put on different pipes when I purchased it, but have not had problems until recently. I just bought a power commander and will get it installed this weekend. i love my bike and get a lot of comments on it. Would recome3nd to anyone looking.
kwdunlap 06-17-2009, 02:01 PM Gas, do you have the part number for the S&S aircleaner kit?
Gashouse Gorilla 06-17-2009, 08:06 PM kwdunlap,
I actually don't have a specific part number for the kit. I called my local dealer and told them the model and year of my bike. They ordered if for me and installed it. If you google the S&S site they have a Victory catalog that you may find information. I will caution you that there are different part numbers for each year and model so be careful.
kwdunlap 06-17-2009, 09:04 PM gas,
thank you for the info. i will check this weekend as i am getting a power commander put on my bike and dynoed. i will let u know ow the dydno turns out.
Gashouse Gorilla 06-18-2009, 07:08 PM Dunlap,
Awesome, I'm definitely curious to hear how your Dyno turns out. The guy at my local shop told me not to even bother getting my bike dyno tuned unless I get a power commander. He said the gains would be minimal if and not worth the money. I would still be curious to know what my bike is pushing with that S&S kit. I hope you are pushing some big hp and that thing comes unglued. Good luck, man.
skisby 06-21-2009, 09:54 AM GasHouse
Did the loose battery cable fix your digital speedo problem too? I returned mine to the dealer in exchange for the analog tach & black headlight (+ some $$ of course!). My speedo did the same thing and after switching over to the analog I found out that it was also about 5mph off (I actually had a very helpful police officer let me off with a warning because of that!)
All in all I loved the look but not at that price! In the end it was just a very expensive, cool looking clock.
To solve the clock / temp issue check out the Victory Shock Tube mount ones at clocks4bikes.com - I haven't recieved mine yet (they are about 2 weeks behind & the guy makes the mounts himself!) but their customer service, warrantee & pricing is awesome. There is a picture of the units mounted & I think the black face ones are going to look great on my 8-ball.
Gashouse Gorilla 06-21-2009, 01:38 PM Skisby,
It definitely fixed it. I could see it getting progressively worse over a couple week period. Finally the connection was so bad the bike wouldn't start. I cleaned up the terminals with a dremel and not one problem since. I agree that the digital speedo is expensive.
On a side note, the S&S air box is unbelievable. What a difference it makes in the performance. Crisp throttle response and squats the rear down when you mash it.
kwdunlap 06-22-2009, 08:19 AM got my power commander put on this weekend and i can definitely tell the difference. The dyno showed 72hp before and 84hp after. it still needs a little more tuning, but that will come in time. i also ask about the S&S kit. the mechanics there said I would probaly gain from 10-12 more hp if I got one put on. That will probaly be my next big purchase, but i pplan on installing a 1.5 inch lowering kit next. Does anyojnme have experince with lowering the 8-ball?
My trip to savannah which is 5 hours from Atlanta was a little rough on my bottom and trying to get comfy was difficult as well. I will probaly also l,ook into highway pegs, but i have no desire to buy a highway barm just to bulkly. I had no problem doing 80 all the way down and the temp dip stick stayed at around 210 the whole ride to savannah.
kwdunlap 06-22-2009, 02:27 PM I was wandering if anyone has tinted or darkened there back brake light. I saw a picture of an 8-ball with a tinted brake light that made the back fender look completely black.
tattooedtech 06-22-2009, 07:50 PM you can mix up some clear and put some black paint in it and spray it on there.... thats how i did my old head light..
Jesters 8 Ball 07-01-2009, 04:51 PM Has any body installed their own exhaust on a 08 8 ball I called the dealership and they said they would sale me the exhaust/intake for 852 out the door then they would have to flash it with their comp and they said that would only be 10 bucks, so that would def be the cheaper route just wondering if its worth it in the long run also if i did it myself if that would jack up my warranty?
Thanks
sonicbluerider 07-01-2009, 10:18 PM put a overdrive pulley on it ...the set up works great

stuggots 08-01-2009, 05:38 PM Im currently in the process of picking up a 2009 Vegas 8ball. Im in New Jersey and needed help with pricing. Was curious if anyone knew how much the dealerships were taking off the MSRP. Sales guy stated he would give me a 500 dollar dealership discount along with a 500 rebate from victory. Bringing the price down by a 1000. Did anyone get a better deal lately on this model. Thanks for the help..
Jesters 8 Ball 08-02-2009, 01:33 PM my dealership had two 08 8 balls left so thats what i went with it was 1900 dollars cheaper than the 09! The victory tour had just came through and if you took a test drive on one they would give you a voucher for 1000 bucks worth of accesories but I had missed it and came in a week later but they still had a voucher so i got it and then at the time they had a 1500 rebate so out the door all said and done i was at 11,982 and they gave me the 5 year warranty with it! Hope that helps man I sure love my bike you wont be disapointed, it wont take you long to get rid of that stock exhaust trust me! hope that helps man good luck
Jess
wingman 08-02-2009, 11:14 PM I got my 09 8ball for 12,049 with five year warranty.
Jester, I am currently waiting for my exhaust to arrive. I ordered some Supertrapp Fat shots slip on mufflers. They have some kind of discs that can be added/removed for different exhaust sound and performance so says the manufacturer. They also say the fuel system does not need an flash/upgrade. We will see. I'll post some pics and give you a report after I've tried them out.
Sonic, can you tell us more about the overdrive pulley setup? Price? Performance? Can you install it yourself?
kb2112 08-09-2009, 11:48 AM Hi all New guy here.

Starliner 08-24-2009, 08:41 AM Hey everyone,
Thanks for posting all of this great information. I am about ready to purchase a Vegas 8 Ball of my own (probably going to get a 2010 model in January or February of next year). I have been riding a V Star 650 Classic and I am looking forward towards moving from a Pearl White, Chromed out bike to the Dark and Menacing 8 Ball.
My wife really wants to put on the Chrome Swept pipes; but I really want to put on the Blackened out swept pipes. Anyone have any feed back on how this would look? Pictures would be nice too. I also want to put on the Blackened Bullet Headlight along with a couple other improvements.
Thanks again for the information!
skisby 08-31-2009, 03:47 PM 2010 8-balls are supposed to be moving the foot controls back which would make it a little more uncomfortable for the taller rider I would imagine.
I went with the tach (digital looked cool but didn't work worth a damn) the bullit headlight & windshield (age catching up with me) - can't find the pic just now but here is one with the analog tach / speedo & stem mount clock / thermo from clocksforbikes..
BDiddy 09-01-2009, 12:53 AM Here's a pic of my 2008 with the bullet headlight, and swept pipes. Like Skisby I have the analog tach/speedo combo and the stem mounted thermometer and clock.

If you haven't done so already, Victory's web site let's you add accessories to a bike and changes the photo as you do so. Might give you some idea of how it would look with chrome vs. black exhaust.
BDiddy, how much trouble was it to install that headlight? I have a 2009 Vegas 8 ball and would much rather have the bullet headlight. About how much did it run you?
BDiddy 09-01-2009, 09:52 PM The light installation is pretty easy. Just pay attention to your wire harness connections. Everything plugs into the main harness inside the headlight so thats really the hardest part of the swap, getting big hands inside the old headlight to unplug little connections.
Make sure that you get model number headlight 2876411-266 and not 2875756-266. This one will not fit your bike.
I think I paid $250 on Ebay.
kwdunlap 09-02-2009, 08:55 AM starliner,
maybe you should consider making both of you happy. There are pipes out there that are black and chrome. i have a set of Arlen ness pipes that are black with a chrome heat shield on them. they look really nice and accent the bike nicely.

kwdunlap 09-03-2009, 02:25 PM I just lowered my 8-ball 1.5 inches and love it. i now have my power commander 3 on as well and my bike is running great. 84 hp, 100lb torque.
dwight4 09-07-2009, 10:42 AM So I have almost 900 miles on my bike now and I'm not looking back.
I bought myself an 09 vegas 8-ball, with stage 1 kit and swept black exhaust, it's my first bike and it backfires abit when i let off the throttle quickly, i thought it was normal untill i read your quote, also i was going to buy the digital tach and was planning to install it myself but the dealer told me you have to program the ecu to get the tach to work, nice to know he's full of s**t. I"ll be buying that tach soon thanks.
Thump1 09-07-2009, 05:08 PM Blamegame, Thanks for the suggestion.
I just purchased a 2009 Jackpot recently. I have noticed what sounds like metal scraping as I back the bike out of the garage. I have searched for the root cause of the noise but have yet to find it. If I am sitting on the bike and moving backwards and hit the front brake it will make the noise most of the time. I have had a friend of mine listen for the noise and it sounds like its coming from under the fender. It is not on the drive belt cover. I have looked for anything loose and not figured it our yet.

Dwight,
I hate to say it but I think it is kind of "normal" for it to backfire a bit. The reprogram did help but did not cure it completely. I was told that it is caused by a "lean pop". Since that post I have switched to the S&S air kit which has virtually cured the pop. The S&S kit comes with a different program. I think it may have done it a half a dozen times in a couple of months of riding. As far as the digital speedo.... I see some mixed reviews on here. Super accurate.... no but I still have no complaints and like the blacked out look compared to the analog. I did install it myself and got it to work the first time. I didn't need to have any programming done on the ECU to get the tach to work, but mine is an '07 and may be different from the '09s.

Thump1,
Is it coming from the front or back fender? If it only happens when you apply the break is it possible it could be the break?
Thump1 09-07-2009, 07:19 PM Thump1,
Is it coming from the front or back fender? If it only happens when you apply the break is it possible it could be the break?
Nope, that is just how I reproduce it easily for us to try and figure out where its coming from. If I bounce on the rear it does it also but not as much as when applying the front brake making the back bounce. It sounds like its coming from close to the taillight but if you press, push, bang on the fender nothing. If do the same to the liscense plate bracket nothing either. It maybe the brace going across but I haven't pinpointed it yet.
Gashouse Gorilla 09-07-2009, 07:39 PM Thump,
You got me stumped too. I have an 8-ball that I have taken the back fender off more times than I care to admit trying to install some flush mount LED blinkers. There isn't a lot under there that I can think of that would cause metal scraping noise. I'll be curious to know what you find out.
kwdunlap 09-09-2009, 04:55 PM I had my 8-ball lowered 1.5", but was getting some rubbing inside the fender when I hit bumps. I had the shock tension tightened 5 rotations and it helped some, but still get a little rubbing on the bigger bumps. there is room to tighten it more and so far i have not noticed a dsifference in the handling or performance. will probaly do another 4 rotations as there is plenty of room.
Gashouse Gorilla 10-02-2009, 08:52 PM I have the bug again. I recently went to the drags for the first time and now I'm all amped up. All I can think about is making my bike go faster. I had the S&S air cleaner kit put on this summer and can't say enough good about it, but I want more. I'm curious to know what everyone else has done for mods to their engines? I've been doing some reading on the stroker kit but stumble across some reading that makes me nervous. I guess there is some question about how reliable your engine is after the mod. I also read that there is question about if the stock engine can handle added HP. Any one had cam work done? At what point do I have to start worrying about if the stock clutch can handle the added HP?
07ACE 10-03-2009, 12:20 AM Im sure you've been told this multiple times being in the victory world but lloydz is the place to go the guy knows his sh*t and everytime i've called he is always the one who calls me back and the best part is he'd usually more amp'd then you! that being said i've been looking into cams and i've read great reviews about the andrews v-460 cam for our bikes and the vm-1 cam is also a good choice, or so i have been told....
Gashouse Gorilla 10-03-2009, 07:59 PM 07ACE,
Thanks for the post. I am well aware of LLoydz and know they he is the man when it comes to Victory. My only problem is..... I'm not sure I have enough scratch to send my motor to him and I'm sure as hell not comfortable enough to do it myself! I guess I better start saving my pennies!!!
07ACE 10-04-2009, 02:11 AM gorilla,
i know the feeling i want a a 110 kit so dang bad but i guess were just gonna have to work a little longer huh? o well some day we'll have it and we'll be spanking harleys with it too :)
diamondrmp 10-04-2009, 02:52 PM I just purchased a 2009 Jackpot recently.
Do you have covers on your rear pulley bolts that may be rubbing? Is your bike lowered and has the wiring harness been moved to the right? Take your fender off then move your bike listening for the sound. ALSO big thing. How is your belt tension? If it is too tight or loose this could cause the noise and you need to check your bearings and check your real wheel alignment.
diamondrmp 10-04-2009, 02:58 PM A problem with Victory and the pipes is the popping. The 09's are worse than the previous models.
Be careful with tuning because our bikes start in a lean mode to warm up then richen from that point. That is the reason you should never crack your engine before it warms up. A lot of people start their bikes up when cold and crack the throttle. Thats not good for our engines.

I should have posted what I found earlier. I found the issue but forgot to post the resolve. It was a brand new bike with 5 miles on it when I noticed the noise(scrapping). I decided to remove the rear fender to see if I could hear the scrapping better. Low and behold I found my issue. There was a thin wire support that they use to hang the fender in the air while it is being painted. It was never removed before installation. You would think the factory installer would have noticed it. It was a pretty stiff piece of wire but easily removed. I put the fender back on and the noise is now gone.
swissking 10-05-2009, 07:54 AM hi everyone,
I have a question about my bike? I have a 2007 victory vegas 8 ball, i wanted to put a 250 rear kit on my bike. ok would a 2006 victory jacket swingarm, fender strunts, wheel, fender , well everything that a original jackpot have on it's rear work on my 2007 8 ball? will it bolt right on? or can i make it work?
anyone please respond quickly i really dont want to let this go if it works?
diamondrmp 10-05-2009, 11:56 AM Everything will fit and bolt on BUT you will need an offset main drive pulley because of the wide rear end and you will need to cut the 8ball FENDER frame and weld on the Jackpot fender frame. You'll need to do this so that you can mount the fender and the fender rails.
I think the Jackpot main pulley will bolt right up but I will check and get back to you ASAP.
The Jackpot/Hammer main drive pulley will bolt on.
I'm assuming you a complete Jackpot parts from the tank back? Don't forget the seats for the 8ball will not work with the Jackpot conversion so your'll need that also.
Basically you need every part including the fender frame from the seat back.
swissking 10-05-2009, 12:15 PM ok cool. have you ever seen anybody do this to victory vegas before?
LARRY 12-13-2010, 07:10 AM A few years down the road, and buoyed by hard-earned research and development, Victory introduced a whole new platform called the Vegas.
diamondrmp 12-13-2010, 01:40 PM ok cool. have you ever seen anybody do this to victory vegas before?
I've seen a few conversions. Even seen a couple of Kingpins with the 250 rear.
This conversion was by a dealership.
MNRider 01-03-2011, 04:50 PM This has probably been discussed a few times before but I really don't want to search through that many posts to find it. Where can I find a license plate relocation kit for my 2006 vegas 8-ball? I like the MBW ones but don't want to spend 200+ on a license plate holder. Is there a cheaper one out there? I am mainly looking for a black one but I probably wouldn't have anything against a chrome one either. Is there any law in MN that says the license plate has to be lit? If there is a law I could always just get a lighted plate frame. Thanks.
Paul M 01-03-2011, 04:55 PM I bought a 2010 Vegas with the 6 speed tranny...and it basically is an overdrive....but it has plenty of power even in 6th to pass easily any "cruisers" on the highway...
Paul M 01-03-2011, 04:59 PM You may also have "issues" with the 200 tire on the rear at speeds greater than say 80...centrifical force will reshape the tire and may cause it to scrub the fender.....not exactly what you want at speed.....LOL
Paul M 01-03-2011, 05:15 PM Have you done a cam job on it...? The quickest and easiest mods to do for HP gains in my book would be Pipes, Air filter, then cams...

Hey thanks for nothing. If you really don't want to help someone out then get off the forum. I guess now I have to search through hundreds of posts to find what I want. All I was seeking was a little advice at to where to find a cheaper license plate relocation alternative to the expensive MBW one. Too much for you though I guess.

You're the one who admitted to be too lazy to search the forum.

When someone reads that, what motivation do they have to help you? There's loads of people willing to help here, but I haven't seen anybody asking to be spoon fed yet. Good luck with it. :D
Btw, your signature doesn't tell what you're riding, so when you ask a question, be prepared to be answered with the same "what bike are you riding?" unless you state in each of your posts what bike you're asking about. While some parts will fit on more than one model, not one part will fit all Victory models. ;)

First of all I did go through every page of the 8 ball thread and every page of the vegas forum and nothing about the license plate relocation kit stood out. I am not about to read each and every post of the 25 pages of threads to find it.
Btw I did state that I rode a 2006 vegas 8 ball in my first post so if you have to ask what I am riding then I probably don't want to hear what you have to say anyway.
I think I will have to just go someplace to get the answer to my question where people aren't dicks like they are around here. I thought harley riders were bad.

Hahaha... so you expected us to read your first post, but you don't want to bother searching the forum. You said you didn't want to search it. By all means, please go find a forum where someone else does the searching for you.

More than 6 hours away from there. Still searching for an answer but time is short so haven't searched much.
CrossRoads 01-07-2011, 02:44 PM If the subject wasn't covered yet, it might be a good idea to start a new thread on it.
MNRider 01-21-2011, 10:51 AM I recently visited my dealer and was told in MN the plate had to be horizontal so that limits my options from what I can see. I don't want the MBW one because it is too expensive and the only other one I have seen is from cyclesolutions.com and is about $45. Anyone know of any other horizontal ones or have any advice about the one from cyclesolutions? I suppose I could always go to a machine shop and have one made also but that might be more than 45 too.
Mountainman 02-25-2011, 07:05 PM Just wanted to say thanks for all the info. Because of It I will be Purchasing my 2010 8Ball tomorrow. Living in upper Maine I will be looking forward to spring!

You can also check out www.victoryonly.com they have a lot of aftermarket accessories....I asked our State Police here in NY about verticle mounting of plates and haven't gotten an answer as of yet...:crzy:
