I picked up a set of Focal Auditors for less than $100, and put them on a cheap little Kenwood 400 4ch. it sounds awesome, loud and clear at 95+. Im about to reinstall the SS 1000.4 that i had in my old bike on them, and put the DS18 tweeters in the Yeti mod, hooked up to the front channel of the kenwood. should sound decent, and ill have 2 open channels for when i get some speaker lids (or i may put an 8" sub in one of the bags...nah, gonna have to do lids).

a yeti mod is, you cut 2 holes in the lower fairing and mount extra speakers (aimed down) in these holes. Im not exactly sure why they named it Yeti mod, but Alan Flores was the first (that I know of) to do it, and thats what he called it.

This is going to get almost as bad as an "oil thread".... :laugh

@Scooter72 I recently upgraded just my fairing speakers from the Kickers to a set of 5.25" Polk Audio DB521 speakers and I'm very happy with the sound. I didn't want to go crazy upgrading the sound system. I don't listen too it all the time I'm riding, between the wind and my exhaust sound there really is no point. I just wanted more clarity at higher volumes and this speaker change did the trick. These little speakers are loud and clear right up to full volume.
The 6.5" version is Polk Audio DB651 if you want to go bigger.

521s - yes, 6.5s - with adapter rings

Here is what I did when I put in my Kicker 6.5 components. I was able to use the VW adapter rings, purchased off ebay for less than $10.

I like how you mounted your tweeters.
Which VW rings did you use? Can you post a link? Not sure if there are more than one...
