I will be towing my 2012 xct from B.C. Canada to Casa Grande Az in January for three months. What is the best way to tie it down to the trailer and where should I be riding in this state to avoid the interstates?
Does anyone live in the Tuscon/Phoenix area that could help?
All information would be appreciated. I have been in that area as a snowbird for 8 years but have never brought the bike down
Thanks bcflyguy wac

Thanks for the maps Frank

They look like great rides. Attached is a pic of the motorcycle trailer. I will transform it to a one up trailer by centering the wheel chock.
Thanks bcflyguy

We've used motorcycleroads.us a lot for our cross-country trips and it's been very helpful. (note the color coding of the roads)

What??? You guys DON"T ride naked down there???? Bunch of wusses. :ltr: Why else do you think that motorcycle manufacturers pad the seats? lol I might be Canadian but that is why I am an Arizonian during the winter. Thanks for the help
bc Nofly guy aka Neil :ltr: cheers
ps . In Canada we have heated seats heated grips heated vests and heated gloves .Now all we need are heated roads

Feb is hit or miss for the high country, just depends on the weather we get for the winter. They are saying its going to be a cold one this year but we have to wait and see. Cold doesn't mean snow for Arizona since we get so little moisture. It can be very cold up North but no snow due to the precipitation we get is so little. I remember last year by Feb there was no real snow anywhere really except for at Sunrise.

I can attest to that......

Definitely want to ride up to Prescott, Jerome, Sedona, and up to the Grand Canyon.

Thanks for the advice Strike. what is the weather like in the Grand Canyon in March???? Isn't that very high in elevation?
Thanks

It all depends on their winter snowfall; having family in Flagstaff, I have been up there during all parts of the year, and the winters seem to be different every year. One year they get a ton of snow, and it sticks around late into the Spring, other years, they get very little snow. About 5 years ago, while heading up I-17 from PHX, ran into a blizzard in March.

I just recommend monitoring the weather throughout Dec/Jan/Feb.

Just an FYI; if you do make it to Jerome, just be mindful of the local constabulary. They don't seem to care for motorcycles roaring through their little wide spot in the road. Don't ask me how I know!!:mad:

P.S. Lived in Scottsdale for 7 years and loved the riding in the Desert Southwest. thumb up

Thanks for the warning Dakota rider. Although I am always over the speed limit,( not on purpose, just the way the bike accelerates by itself lol) :DI tend to ride carefully in new and unfamiliar areas
Ride safe

SnOw

Been to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in July and seen snow on the ground. Pretty strange it was, and cold! Take your warm cloths with you up north and for sure your rain gear.

I lived in Scottsdale for 5 years

While its true you could hit cold or snow in the north country there is still plenty of good riding.
Jerome...old mining town with lots of bars and artsy shops
Ride up the Flagstaff the back way through wickenburg. You will have lots of switchbacks.
My favorite: If you have warm weather you have to take 87 up to Payson, Payson to (stop to see painted desert) Winslow, Jump on 40 for a bit East to Holbrook. Take 180 S to St Johns, then 191 to 60. Take 60 W to Show Low, to Globe and then into Mesa. This is some of the best riding in White Mountains.

Enjoy

These sound like GREAT rides. I will make sure that I check the weather before I head out. Thanks KDB
