I just ordered a set of High and Low beam HID's from VictoryHID.com Price seemed right and the warranty CERTAINLY seems right. Has anyone else gone with HID's? the searches I did didn't come up with much. When I get mine in I'll post my findings.

It's about 50/50 preference wise. Some don't want the blue tint, and some want to be a little different. ;)

I would just like to add, I bought and installed the 6k bulb with the blue tint on my vegas that I traded for my now cross country, I have also installed the same bulb on my XC and love them! They are simple to install, and the light is a night and day difference in the dark vs. the stock bulb. The color is not a definite blue, but more of a real nice white with just a hint of blue. At this time of year at least half of my riding is in the dark, and once the time changes pretty much all of my riding will be. I couldn't believe the difference the first time a car passed me, in the dark, there is a very distinct difference in the stock bulb color and the HID color, I am sold, and I have suggested this type of bulb to many others that I work with. When I bought my XC it wasn't even a question in my mind not to get this kit, it was when I was going to get it! And the customer service is awesome!!

Placed my order on Saturday late in the day. Got a notice from CR that it was on its way almost immediately. He must live behind the Post Office. I received it yesterday at noon. I installed it today and it took me about 45 minutes because nothing ever works out right the first time for me. I tested it before I installed it and everything worked perfectly. I partially took it apart so I could install it without trouble. When I got it all put together, the high beam didn't work. Thought it was the bulb but when I swapped it out with the low beam bulb it still didn't work. Unassembled it and then remember in a previous post that I might have put one of the connections in upside down. Reversed it and all was good. Re-assembled it and it works great. Can't wait for it to get dark so I can really see how much difference it makes. Should have taken only 20 minutes because I take it slow the first time I do things. And if I didn't mix up the connections it would have been quicker.

As others have indicated; had extremely Snappy & responsive service from CR. Also was debating on the 5000k & 6000k. I’m sure I would have been happy with either, but ordered the 5000k, it has a nice “clean” light and still had a slight cold blue tint compared to the warm Halogens. Another decision was; should I get both the low & High, I was worried about the warm-up time on the High. I got High & Lows, as mentioned in other post; the High does light up instantly, it just does not get to its peak for several seconds, so that works for me. Lastly was able to fit the both ballast in the bucket.

Can anyone assist please. I've received my HID kit, but as I've just moved, my manual is boxed like half my life, and wondered if anyone can provide instructions on how to replace, or a link?
Cheers

your a good man!! However, and entirely my fault, I forgot (because it was so long ago), that I paid for the square style headlight. Different configuration. It had a scew underneath, and also 2 allan key screws on the side, but light still wont budge grr!!

Do you have scematic of this type?
Cheers Sorry for being a pain!

I can help you here. I believe you mean this headlight with 4 screws around the headlight (2 of them in the rear on each side) and another one in the middle (you will need to pull the headlight up as if aiming it higher to access it) Before you access the middle one, take the top cover off so it doesn't fall off when you pull the headlight up. Then inside the headlight bucket you have 2 more screws holding the headlight itself to the bucket.

Dolphin,
Thanks for the come back, Now i'm unsure if the one provided to me will fit this headlight? (yes the one above is mine). Do you or Crossroads know if it will, or do I need to order another. Funny how you forget some items you change when purchasing the bike 2 years ago.
If I need another, how do i go about ordering it, as I can no longer order based on original Bike Specs. Also, if new one needed, I wouldnt exchange, Ill just on-sell here, thanks

I don't know - it depends on what year and model the bullet one came off (yes, they all look the same from the outside, but are different inside). I'll go on a limb and guess that you've forgotten. :ltr:

I might be able to tell if you take a clear picture from the front of the headlight, showing both bulbs. Otherwise, open the headlight bucket and take a picture and e-mail it to me. Also, so there is a point of contact with this issue, please fill out and submit this form: http://victoryhid.com/contact.php.

OK kids. Let's put on our thinking caps and review 49 pages that I have just finished reading so that others may not have to.
1. By a landslide of consensus from purchasers it's a great product, fast delivery, apex service and communication and phenomenal price compared to the Victory factory alternative (albeit a less comprehensive kit than Victory offers).
2. Yes, it's a tight fit. Yes, it will fit.
3. Lawdy mama!. What choo mean "read the directions"? What directions? Ooooh, oh yeah, them directions.
4. Remove packing materials before installing product.
5. No really!? I dunno. I guess that I wouldn't have automatically gone to cutting and drilling my light bucket as plan B in an advertised plug and play install when things weren't plugging and playing. A good rule of thumb in that case is headlight buckets ain't cheap. Questions is.
6. Victory does not offer a high beam kit. CrossRoads does.
7. Repeat #6. Take it to the bank. Victory does not offer a high beam kit.
8. People who tout themselves as lighting experts on the internet and provide studies (including US and European gummint studies, both entities renowned for their competence) to back up their conclusions on the internet... or... what you can see with your own eyes for less than 100 bucks with a money back guarantee. Geez, tough call.
9. The reason that 2012 Cross Country Tour kits do not include a low beam conversion is that the HID low beam was factory standard equipment on that model.
10. If you have swapped out your headlight bucket or otherwise wound up with a non-stock headlight bucket then odds are high that when you order a kit based on original equipment info, it shouldn't be a surprise when the kit, she no fit. Refer to rule #5.
11. Sarcasm has a pronounced effect on some peeps. It doesn't necessarily shut them up but it does affect them and that's enough.
12. CrossRoads is a saint. For short money he is a patient, clear, instructive and reasonable provider of a product that obviously is in demand.

I just ordered the high beam kit for my Tour. I did read this thread soup to nuts (emphasis on nuts). It is no coincidence that Pop has not ever, not even once, entertained the foolish notion of retail sales. If I am ever so inclined I promise that I will refer to this thread for realignment.

I ordered my set too today for my Ness Vision. I already got the HID center light (Victory one), I have H4 HID's (single bulb high/low - yes that's correct) in my 1800 VTX, and will never have a bike without HID's! When driving at night with my HID "driving light" on the Vision, it completely drowns out the normal halogen bulb. What a waste of light that is!

I know without a doubt it's a no brainer and well worth every penny to convert the stock halogens. I'm preaching to the choir here so I'll shut up :)

Just ordered my 5000 hi/low kit! I drove home last night in the dark and was thinking how dim the lights were - even high did not light up into the woods at all - I live in an area with lots of critters in the woods (foothills of the Sierra, near Lake Tahoe). Having bright lights is a must. I was going to get some riding lights and attach them to the crash bars for night riding. I am hoping this kit will save me that effort - I would rather leave the bike "clean".
Looking forward to getting them - will report on my findings.cheers

Got mine yesterday and installed today. Took about 25 minutes - had a 50/50 chance with the polarity...had to change both, no problem.

For those with XRs all you need to do is take off the wind shield. Next take 4 bolts off the lamp - 2 on top, 2 on the side/bottom. the top plate comes off, you spay the wire harnesses out of the way and you have a clear shot at the bulbs - they come off with half a turn. Hook up the HID harness to the new bulb and do the lower bulb first -find the right spot by going 1/4 turns and feeling for the right fit - it's obvious when it's right and press the bulb in and turn clock wise till seated - repeat for the top bulb. Turn on the key, hit the high beam - if one or both don't light up disconnect the main connection of bulb not lighting and turn 180 degrees reattach and you got light!

Looks very bright in my shop - but it's raining tonight - will have to wait to check during a night ride - looking forward to it! cheers

VictoryHID.com

Just picked up the high and low beam kit from victoryhid.com. It looks great! Crossroad is awesome! He helped me set up my 2008 Hammer S with a 2009 headlight setup. FYI you can make it work even though the lens has a different part number. Thx CR
