Blackout Cheese Wedge

Hello all,

I am slowly blacking out every part of my 8-ball. Since its an '07 most of it was blacked out. I already have the mirrors, bars and headlight (like the kingpin)

I just got the left side cheese wedge with the ignition hole. But my Vic shop says I cannot use that same cheese wedge (with the ignition hole plugged) because there is no way to attach it.

Does anyone know of a cheese wedge I could put on the right side?

Blackout Wedges

I notice this thread has a few months on it, but I just blacked mine out over the weekend.
Both wedges had the keyhole punch-out. The left side needs a little "something" in the wedge area. Both sides are the same color/gloss but the lighting makes them look different. Went with satin black to try and match up the engine block and head covers rather than the gloss of the paint.

$10 and 3 hrs time got me to the finished product:

After I put the cheese wedge on I hated it. I wanted something glossy to match the paint. I am returning it to the shop.

I think if you pull the wedges you will find that the base plates are identical but the right side has a solid insert where as the left has a hole for the key. You can purchase cheese wedge inserts at a variety of dealers like Noemtz and WitchDoctors. They just use peal and stick tape to hold them on.

I think this is an awesome idea. i already have leds just behind my wedge. i have drilled out the dimples and have the first coat of paint on it.
Cool
- any info on the LEDS's you used? I looked at flex strips.
-where did you splice for power and a ground? -I know i could run a dedicated power cable but want a "clean look"..

Thanks

- I should have added that i lightly sanded the chrome plastic finish before painting.

Well - i ordered some cheapo LED strips on amazon. in white and flexible. I also ordered a quick tap inline fuse for the accessory out put on the fuse box. Should be together by the end of the month, ill let you all know how it turns out. I kind of want a switch but i prefer to keep it clean.

The guys who installed the Boogie Lights included a little, waterproof, black button about 1/2" x 1/2" square which they mounted on the left-side saddlebag bracket. It's accessible even when I'm riding but it's also not conspicuous in the middle of the day. So you may want to check into something like that to keep the clean look you want to achieve but also give you an easy way to switch the LEDs on and off.

Looks pretty sweet...

Anyone blackout their "6 Speed Overdrive"? I think that 8 out of 10 people notice it and say it's tacky.
