Friends:

My 2003 Touring Cruiser has decorative chrome trim covers right behind each sidecase (about 24 inches long and 2.5 to 3 inches high and curved towards the back. These are held to a metal tube that is approximately .5 inches in diameter by four of five plastic friction clamps. These clamps are all bnroken in one side and nearly on te other making the part clatter as the bike is ridden. These clamps are glued onto the trim piece. I seed to know if anyone knows where to find replacements that I can attach to the trim to again secure this part properly to the tubes I described.

Thanks for your input. Dave

Welcome to the forums Dave and glad to add another TC to the fold. Don't forget to update your signature line and if you get a chance post a pic of your TC in the Show off your V92 thread.

In answer to your questions, those clips suck and you should be glad they're gone. Here are two pics of replacement options from some other riders that should be better than messing with the plastic ones. The clips will require a small hole drilled unless you want to try it with gorilla snot first. They're the ones you use in your garage for broom sticks, etc...

Magnets probly the best bet although a little pricey so be sure to shop around. 1/8" earth magnets will prob work best but again, a little pricey.

Hope these pics help. Safe ridding and if you got questions about your TC feel free to post in the V92 forum. Tim cheers

Tim, Thanks for the advice and great pics. You're right, the plastic sucks! The metal clamps are a good idea as are the magnets and I will head down to the hardware store to see what I can find to glue on. The K5 two part adhesive will hold anything to anything forever so I will use that for whatever solution I pick.

I tried to post on the V92 section and I keep getting a restricted message like I'm not authorized to go there. It might be this signature thing but I really don't know how to update that. I don't see any attach-file icons to drop a pic on this message frame like you did. I want to share the pic but need some guidance.

No problem Dave. Not sure if you just got the bike or just joining the forums and had it a while. Let us know, theres lots of little tricks to make that V92 come alive and keep it in top shape. as well as lots of good folks with great advice on Vics around here. We're all glad to help. You only needed 2 posts to free you up to post in any forum and you should be able to update your signature from clicking UserCP up top in the bar and then over on the left you should see all the options. The 2 posts is to keep the auto spammers out or at least help deter them. When you post on the bottom under additional options you willl see a button that says manage attachments. That is where you will upload photos. Give a shout or PM if you need help with anything and safe riding.

Tim cheers

Thanks for the tricks! I got some things updated and tried to attached the pic of the TC to this reply. I also made it my profile shot. I got the bike a couple of years ago with about 12K miles on it. Near new condition and runs like a champ. I'll look forward to interacting with the group and learning more as the months roll by. It's getting wet here in Seattle but I ride year-round whenever the rain takes a break.

I just got my '04 TC in June this year. I'm the 3rd owner, and I bought a bag (10) of those plastic parts last Sat. at Santa Rosa Vee Twin, in Santa Rosa, Ca., but you can get them from any Victory dealer online.
The part # is; P07670139, clip-strut (10)
I think a past owner effed up the clips trying to remove the trim without taking the bag off first.
A $260.00 piece of chrome held on by a $3.25 POS plastic clip. Go figure.
They were $3.25 each, but you have to buy the bag of ten.

+1 on the clips, they really are fragile but as bugkiller says they are still available. Once you are careful taking the trim on and off the bike you can keep from breaking them as i did cleaning the bike or trying to remove the trim piece without taking off the hard sidebag. I really like the TC, good luck with yours . welcome to the forum
