Can someone please help me figure the best solution for bringing my hanlebars farther back.Should I get a riser or new handlebars, and if so do I need longer brake lines or cables etc. whats the part #s and can you still get them? For a 2005 victory touring cruiser.
Thanks!
Jim.

The short answer to your questions is : "It depends..."

The long answer is: "It depends upon what bars & risers you want to use, and how far the handgrips will be located from the original location."

For anything more than a few inches' difference, you'll probably have to get new cables & brake hoses, and extend the wiring harness...

I'm running a set of swapmeet risers, 5" up and 2.25" back, with the Vic Narrow Classic bars (p/n 2872140). The bars have the same angles & bends as the original bars, but are 4" narrower (taken out of the center section), so each handgrip is 2" closer to the center. I was able to get by with stock length cables, but probably wouldn't if I used the original bars.

Thank you! sounds like you just had to change the brake line.I was told by the dealer I could get a set of 2" pullback bars in a NOS part # 2875033 but I don't know if they will satisfy and also there working on getting information if I need to change the brake line, cables and wiring but (they don't know yet themselves)

Actually, I probably could've gotten by with the stock front brake line; I was going to a braided steel line anyway, and bought one 2" over to be on the safe side.

My brake line is Galfer, and I'm using a stock length Barnett clutch cable (both from Conquest Customs); they can be made up in whatever length you want.

Sounds good! I don't think I need to go that far back so I'm going with the NOS #2875033 2" pullback bars, I ordered the bars today for $150.00 and they said I wouldn't need anything but the bars! I hope I get that lucky but we will see.If you order the newer model 2" pullbacks they cost about $300.00 a piece!

Have you tried to adjust the stock bars?I had to set my bars back/down about 2in.Now my 04 TC feel great on the bars.
Lowered it with a clevis and that really helped out everything.

Adjusting the bars back brought them down for me.
The lowering clevis was for the rear of the bike and that brough everything into good proportion for me.
Mine is solid blue.I love the color.

Just got a quote from Steve for the lowering clevis for 100 including shipping. Sounds like my next purchase. I adjusted the stock bars but still got that slight lean forward feel so I think adding the lowering clevis would do the same for me adding risers afterwards. Colorado, you don't by chance have a side shot of your bike with your 4" risers do you? Just curious... Followup when you get your new bars indianboy...

Just got the new bars didn't take long to put them on since I didn't need anything but the bars:) yee ha! ,took it for a short ride and I'm satisfied with the distance they came back, like I said I didn't have to go to much farther, anyway I'm pretty darn happy the way things turned out maybe my luck is changing!

I just replaced my stock bars with Baron nostalgia bars. (36"W, 11" pullback) In order to solve the cable issue, I replaced the 5" risers with 2", and voella!! great pullback, low, wide bars (solves sore shoulder problems) and a cool retro look. The stock cables work fine.

You got a Pic bro? I went with Highway Hawgs 4x1.5, stock bars with slight tilt down. Stock cables repositioned. Will post a pic as soon as I get a good shot.

Looks tight bro. Really like the profile!

Funny that I was just looking at a TC on cycle trader same color a few minutes ago and thinking of scraping the shield and doing something similar to what you got for a 2nd bike to play with.. lol.. On down the road of course.

Yup, your bike Looks great! Now I know I will be doing this at some point if I find a sweet deal on a 04-06. Of course got to keep it on the down low with the wife as I have been lookin at them XCT's hehehehe cheers
