Maybe old news for some but I found this link on the exhaust note for the new upcoming Indian engine on Polaris' website and thought I'd share and get opinion? To me it sounds Harley-ish at idle and ferrari-ish at speed so this could be a nice engine as long as it has upwards of 105HP/120 torque out of the crate. Any less and Polaris won't be able to charge the premium that they would need to get out of it IMHO

Any of you heard about the 152cu Ilmor V-twin engine from Viper Motorcycle Co? I saw it @ one of the local drag events here @ Z-Max speedway. That would be a nice fit for the next Indian. Built on current technology with 2 huge slugs beating up and down

Just saw a 2010 Indian today, the owner said he was afraid that Polaris would do a 'Ness' to Indian and ruin it.... his bike was BEAUTIFUL.

I'd trade my CrossRoads in a heartbeat if I was going by looks alone, I have no idea how they compare mechanically....

...I have to imagine they are a lot more expensive than mine.

I didnt hear it skipping like and HD, i thought it sounded killer!
I have faith in Polaris doing right by it....I believe they will keep it as pure as they possibly can....they already have Vic to do all the innovative and different things with..

its just a re-worked hd engine. also a harley that runs right doesn't "skip" under load.

I love the sound of the clip anyway, will be at Daytona for the reality of it .. But you are Correct a Properly Tuned Harley don't Skip a Beat .. Will make a sound clip for any doubters on my FXR4 .. But making one of my XC when bring it home tomorrow and to me it sounds just as great as this sound clip ..

Harleys have Push Rods .. Definitely going to be a different sound .. No way saying a Harley is Faster just saying a big difference the way it runs when a Harley is tuned properly the way mine is .. But if read a little closer said loved the way my XC sounds above and beyond Harleys .. Just did a Stage 1 with True Duals Lloyds AC and PCV to tune it .. Sound Clip to Come .. I noticed you owned several HD's as I have as well over the past 40 years but have to know something about an FXR to understand ..

This was my First Sportster in 1970 ..

Like I said the first time I heard this; it sounds like an overhead cam motor to me. I'm hoping the new Indian motor IS an overhead cam motor but still has the push rod tubes being used for oil flow or something else so the nostalgic look is maintained. In some future year they could phase out the push rod covers or do something I can't even imagine with it. :D

I guess we will find out together this Summer...

Was hoping to do a Sound Clip, but my camera battery died.. Just have a couple pics now of the XC with Freedom True Duals, Lloyds AC and Tuned with a PCV .. I don't know if a tac, tac, tac, pom, pom, pom, whatever damn sure sounds good to me .. Sound Clip to come ..

Looks good GJ. You won't be needing the heat shields either. I would be interested in seeing a before and after dyno on these pipes if anyone can get them. The common perception is the stock head pipes do an excellent job of creating the best power but sometimes power isn't the most important issue for folks. Sometime sound and lower heat trumps it.

I would recommend getting some black cam tensioner bolt covers for it though. The rear one really stands out now.
