Just a final update, from me. My $3 sensor works fine. Since the wires are 22 gauge, I folded them over twice and soldered them together before placing them in the plug. Other than that, not much else to do but test it out on its accuracy next time I'm out.

UPDATE: Verified temp at the library (outside display) today and was within 2 degF. That works for me.

Ride safe.

Ok so I ordered the 2.99 temp sensor from eBay and got it in today. After opening the headlight and removing the seat I could not for the life of me find the connector pictured in this thread. So I did something against my better nature, being an aircraft electrician, and just started plugging it in to the connectors that were not already labeled in the headlight bucket. Fortunately I did not damage the bike or sensor and I found the connections, which happen to be quite different from the others shown in this thread. My bike is a 2013 Vegas 8 ball, pictures of the connections are below, everything checks good; all I did was plug it up and it worked like a champ and its pretty accurate. Tomorrow I will run to the parts store and buy the proper ends for the sensor and reassemble the bike. Sorry for the novel, I hope it comes in handy.

Default Final solution

Ok, now i have these from ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-10k-OH...E:L:OC:US:3160

After i got those, i pick the best one (worst have 3 degrees too big temp) and solder short extension wires and put some shrink tubing to protect it.

Now it works perfectly and it costs $2.98. Not so bad, and now i have 9pcs for spare.
