If you want to pay almost double for the tires, buy the Metzler. Is it worth the extra cost.

I had to sweet talk my Hammer into the corners as well with the stock Dunlops. I went with the 240mm Metzler for the rear tire and it feels like the bike is reading my mind. She leans over without any problems and I have much more confidence in the turns.

Does the Hammer handle any better than a Jackpot in the turns.
Anyone had both.

Coming off an 09 zx6 I was a little worried about the handling with the 250 rear but honestly it handles pretty good, no worries about drifting into oncoming traffic as I would blame that on the rider... My biggest problem is dragging hard parts...

My boss has a jackpot and I have a hammer. The hammer handles better in my opinion. I ride my bike hard and drag the pegs a lot. They are ground to a 45 degree angle. The frame will also grind if u really get it in deep. The hammer handles great once u get used to it.

Ive had both, JP (2), & now my 2nd Hammer.
Ride a big rear tyre bike then u betta up your cornering "Concentration rate". Hammer or JP, they both will drift out without the negative steer, and one learns very quickly to force it sometimes. But that can be exhilarating toooo! Ride hard & mean it.

I believe yes! The fatter/smaller front wheel does make the Hammer slightly easier to mix it in the twisty's. I've put Ness Pull backs on every Vic I've owned, just right for me!

But if you like flinging the bike around then you really dont have to think about the it with the Vegas/HighBall. !80/55 & 80/90 21" works great.

I ride a Hammer S with about 5k on the Dunlops after 1+ season. I also ride a BMWK1200GT (Metzelers). The only time I have ever felt the least bit of squirreliness or "thrill" was descending a twisty mountain pass (NY23A in the Catskills) where a strip of new black top had been put down along tracks worn in the road by heavy trucks.

The tire tracking over the edge of those two parallel blacktop lips--riding up and down on it for a couple hundred feet repeatedly gave me a sudden "twist" that I did not enjoy…at least the first couple of times. But by the end of the run, I was laughing at myself and the tires for tensing up and being concerned; the bike wasn't going anywhere and I realized the issue was me immediately.

FWiW, I intend to switch to Metzelers when the time comes; years of experience with them on BMWs convinces me that they are superior. I have had TERRIBLE luck with high-performance Dunlops, but on 2 and 4-wheeled high-performance BMWs.

And I'll also ask if that bike you rode had worn/flat and properly inflated tires.
