It seems (unfortunately) that photography, and picture taking in general are becoming a lost art. Cell phone cameras are to blame in large part. Most people delete them. We are rapidly becoming an undocumented society.
Wish I could afford equipment like that D-700. Taking pics is something I really enjoy and have much appreciation for high quality shots like the ones in this thread.

The price of the D700 has come down on the used market since the D600 and D800 have come out.

Actually it's the quite opposite. There is something like 50.000 pictures uploaded every hour on facebook alone. There are tens of photo hosting websites and you can find a picture of anything you want by just typing a keyword in to the google or any other search engine or something like imgur photo hosting site.
Imo people are in to photography more than ever because of the great cameras we have on our smart phones these days. Also the simple editing tools that you can find in app stores for free makes taking pictures more fun than ever. So on the contrary...These are the most photographed times my friend.
