Vic supplies two different-sized sets of bushings for the front and rear bars (on the bag bracket) that the trunk snaps onto. One set of bushings are thinner than the other set to accommodate factory manufacturing tolerances. Not only did i have the larger diameter bushings, but they were also put on backwards with the flange sections towards the middle instead of to the inside and outside compounding my problem...
Are the flanges supposed to be towards the outside or inside of the bike. You said they were toward the middle instead of to inside (wouldn't that be middle) and outside...........???????

On each bracket bar there are two bushings that get threaded on, side by side, butting up to each other. So there are a total of 8 bushings, distributed across 4 bars. Each bushing has a widened flange at one end. The flanged end of the inside bushing should be inside, close to the bike. The flanged end of the outside bushings should be facing out.
On my bike, both bushings on each bar incorrectly had the flanged ends butting up to each other...
Gotcha. Unfortunately I only have 2 plastic bushings on the whole assembly. I guess I need to go back to the dealer. Dang, I was wondering why its been rattling lately.

Oops.... That would explain it. I think you want very little play in those connections...
