I also finished up the fabrication of my backrest and luggage rack. Picked up a used rack, not sure what it came off of, just had to fabricate to adapter to mount it. I plan to strip everything and black it out. Might have rattle can it until winter to get it powdercoated.

I just removed my truck and installed the victory passenger backrest. Pricey but quality is awesome! Stout to say the least!

Default Back Rest and questions

Very nice. I have the backrest and rack for mine as well. Haven't mounted it yet, how hard is it "the first time"?

Since we are both new VV riders, a couple of questions for you if I could.

1. How much "play/slop" is there in the shifter? Not up and down, but more so axially around the mounting shaft. Shifts fine, but it feels goofy if you move it with your hand.

2. Have you had your center console off yet? My heated grips only work on low (plenty hot there), but not on high. Want to check the wiring/connections at the switch myself. Seems simple enough instead of chasing back to the dealer (400 miles away!).

Thanks, and I'm jealous about how much you've done already to make you Ness "yours".

The backrest took me about an hour from start to finish. The most time consuming part is the cutting of that cover. When you do it, I'd recommend completely covering the pretty side with masking tape. It scratches very very easy.

I know exactly what you mean on the shifter. I thought the shifter was sloppy but checking out other VV's on the show room, they are all like that. There must be a reason it's like that but I don't know it.

I haven't had off the center console yet. Looks easy enough though via the service manual.

I've been fortunate that this entire week the family is out of town for Thanksgiving. I have to work so they took off. I've been pretty much living at work and in the garage. Giving me lots of tinker time.

I sure love the bike!!!
