Ness versus Regular...suspension

From the parts schematic for the '12 Visioon:

The following parts are different between the Ness and non:

The Lower Forks (not numbered)
#20 - Cartridge
#22 - Spring
#23 - Cap
#25 - Spacer

The idea behind inverting the forks is that there is less unsprung mass for the suspension to deal with. IOW, in the case of normal forks, the suspension not only has to compensate for the mass of the wheel, brakes, tire, but also aluminum case on the fork that houses the spring. The less unsprung mass, the cheaper/lighter the suspension needs to be to make it compliant.

Yeah. Tough decision on a brand new bike. Probably be around $1500 or more with labor to change the rear shock and these parts.

If it were me; I'd just ride it the way it is and see if it is gonna be ok like you mentioned Mike. You can always change them later if you decide to go that route. I'm sure you would have no trouble finding someone with a late model Vision to exchange parts with if that's what you wanted to do.
