I just ordered some Hyper Lites, and was looking under the rear fender and saw the two holes coming off the turn signals to route the wiring. Very convenient. I do have a question on where you tapped into the brake, running light wires.......did you remove the cover on the inside of the fender that protects the stock tail light and tap in there? Looks logical, and on the XCT, there is a good sized "box" under the fender above the light that is most likely an ABS component.

Simple answer: I don't have a XC or a XCT, so can't answer your question. In my case, I just tapped into the appropriate wires under the rear fender.

I have a 2012 XR and added a circuit to cause the existing brake light to strobe. Installing per instructions given with the circuitry ended up disabling my cruise control. I'm an electrical engineer and fixed it... If you're interested, I can pull together a description of what I did. Let me know.... My total cost ~$20 and a couple of hours of work.
I think I will be OK. I just need to find where to tap into the existing brake and running light wires. On the xct, under the rear fender, the rear lighting system is protected really well. I appreciate the offer, and will reach out if necessary.
Just finished the Hyper Lite install and I wanted to say thanks for the feedback from the forums. For those who are considering, straight forward application. The red Hyper Lite wire taps into the white/pink brake light wire on the XCT, and the gray Hyper Lite wire taps into the green/pink power wire. I would add that you need to make sure you have the black ground wire tied to a good ground source, and tapping into a ground wire might not be the best choice. Attached are a couple of pics that show the lites mounted, and the wiring harness I tapped into under the rear fender. I followed the wires from the trunk lights to this location. Definite upgrade on improving the visibility factor on the bike.

I'm looking at installing the Hyper Lites on my 2012 XR. Where did you tap into the brake lines? Under the seat? I looked inside the rear fender and can't see any "exposed" wires for the brake/taillight.
Thank you for giving out the proper wire colors though, at least when I find them now, I'll know which is which.
