If you don't mind my asking, what does it offer you that plain old email doesn't?
Facebook to email is like an XCT compared to a 250 Honda, they will both do the same thing but not nearly as well. On fb I get real time updates from friends, vendors, etc., with photo's, discussions on various subjects etc.. In other words it's much more efficient and complete, kind of like when you went from snail mail to email.

Facebook is not AT ALL like eMail. Rather, it is more like a generic public chat session or an extension to your web browser. You can associate with different groups of individuals and keep the two separate via the grouping function. If I want to see what biking events might be happening in the area, I can simply do a quick check on FB and find rides to the mountains with a sport bike group (on Saturday) or a bike/auto show (on Sunday) and a Biker BBQ for charity on Friday. There are 3 bands I like playing @ 3 different bars on Saturday so I could ride from one to the other and just chill out. I can also see that the neighborhood is having a social get together for younger kids on Friday after school. The local golf course has a golf tournament on Saturday, etc and those are simple things going on THIS weekend.
PS - I am not a big FB fan but it is good for what it is. I can't see the financial benefits of owning the stock so I don't but as a social outlet, it's not bad.

I know when my wife looks at her page there are generally a bunch of meaningless comments like "I had a great day" many of which are written by people she doesn't know.
I'm pretty sure Outlook has a feature where you can send an email to a group of friends with pictures attached. In this day and age of employers snooping around and such, I'd rather do that than become a pariah because I posted a picture of doing something silly or got caught calling the boss a dumbass in a conversation with friends.
BikenDad you hit the nail on the head! The tease marketing is irritating. But you'll never see me on facebook. I'm with Pop and Saddlebag on that subject. If someone wants to contact me, my phone and email work just fine.

Reason: Didn't realize my quick reply would appear at end of list instead of immediately after the one I was quick replying to.
