Are these Ness bars taller then the HMD-40 bars?

Yes. These Ness bars are 2.5" taller according to the info available on HMD's web site.

Edit: Correction. I was looking at the wrong bars on HMD's site. The Ness bars are .5" shorter at 11.5".

Is rise the same at high. It should be. Ness = 11.5 rise HMD = 9

I want the bars to come back towards the seat as much as possible. I like the easy chair riding position.

I'm also worried about the HMD's being the wront angle like the stock bars.

Ok, I see where I got mixed up. You were asking about the number 40 HMD bars and not the bagger bars so I was correct the first time.

These Ness bars are more of a comparison to the HMD bagger bars. The Victory plus 2 inch bars are a better comparison to the bars you are asking about. The angle of the grips are supposed to be in a better position than the Victory bars and have the more modern look.

I'm banking on being able to pull these Ness bars back and being able to adjust the grip angle. I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks.

I'm also considering the Thumper Pipes from Raw Design. They sound deep and low. I'm just wondering how they sound at cruise speed and if they drown out the stereo.

I'm changing the looks of the bike to give it more of an edgy look. Might as well do the sound too. I can always switch pipes if/when I go touring. I have S1 pipes with the ends cut back and they sound better than OK but don't have that edge to them if you know what I mean.

You already have the D&D pipes which I consider top of the line but besides costing a bit more than I want to spend; do not allow for the use of other tips which limit the way I can change things around to look a certain way. Not a completely deal breaker for me but is something I consider.

By the way, for those with an XR, or one of the steel frame bikes, HMD has some really nice bars in both pullback and mid-height apes. I think they would look killer on the Judge.

I ordered the Ness Modular Cross Country Ape Handlebars in black from GCMC today.
With the adjustability of the angle of the handlebar, I think they will be the ticket for me. I will post pics when I get them mounted.
