I don't keep up with Obama's latest lies.. I don't imagine he had a real plan to save such $, just words... the republicans have offered real plans, including actual BUDGETS that address the wider fiscal problems, that Obama rejects, the point of that link was to demonstate just one of many Obama's lies about where revenue 'could' come from (he was either lying then, or now)...

I don't care much for this political theater, by either party...

The bottom line of course is that Obama is a big spending, big gov't, redistributionist/socialist... I don't imagine Obama will offer up any REAL plan to reduce spending or gov't.... just reductions in 'proposed' spending over many years while the real spending levels continue to rise... you liberals ought to see that if you look at this honestly... all this back and forth here is silly, you liberals want big gov't, huge spending, and redistribution from the wealthy... (I hope you don't say you don't want that, you voted for it)

... conservatives would like to return to the constitutional principles of small gov't, limited spending/taxation...

Although conservatives have NOT been adhering to such principles for many decades, and many old school republicans now may be mostly hot air when it comes to such promises, but at least they speak of moving in that direction....

Obama is the polar opposite.

We can't convince each other here, we can only try to win this argument or that, which neither side will accept...

If we accept the fact of who we are, and what we'd like this country to look like, as stated a few paragraphs above, then we can continue to listen to our respective choirs, and try to move the country in the direction we believe is correct... that's what elections do. Note: the losing side isn't expected to toss away their principles just because the winner demands they should.

My 'problem' with all you liberals in this conversation is your rejection of Constitutional principles in favor of Obama's vision of some european/socialist model society, that's all.

It's pretty simple... we have enemies of the state, and patriots, the choice is clear.

Hindsight is 20/20 but the times change and the Republican leadership doesn't (obviously). We need to replace Boehner ASAP!

The answer to the riddle from the article you posted is that the Republicans gambled and lost. It's that simple.

Republicans could have forged a deal in 2011 that forced Obama to take the all American Romney plan of sticking the rich (and the rest of us too) with fewer tax deductions, but they stuck to their obstructionist guns hoping a Romney win would provide a free for all for their well healed donors.

Now the Republicans will once again stick to their obstructionist guns to save face and will vote to rescind the Bush tax cut expirations for 98% of Americans once we leap over the dreaded "fiscal cliff." And that's how the game is played.

I believe this "fiscal cliff" business is done to boost news ratings. I read something the other day that said there was already some process in place that would defer any military cuts for another year even if we go over the cliff. Senators just voted for another military pay increase too. Nevermind reality:

Boehner removed the supposed conservative from AZ from a committee. Now he is not supporting the conservative in LA in the special run off this Saturday. Funny he seemed to think telling everyone your a conservative was an election winner a couple of months ago. Guy is a total zero. Retirement looks like a good option for JB.
