My low beam is very similar to a normal automotive low beam. My high beam produces a huge round lighted area.
If you look into your headlamp, you will see that the low beam bulb (the upper bulb) is shaded by a metal deflector to direct the beam down so as not to blind oncoming traffic. The high beam bulb on the other hand shoots straight out with no covering, this is what you are seeing.
Got my 6000 high/low kit in the mail yesterday (thanks CrossRoads) and now I have a big decision to make. Do I mothball the kit until the snow melts or do I shovel a path to the garage, turn on the heat, and get to it?
Git er dun!!!!! Utilize those snowshoes you have hanging in the mud room and head on out to the garage!! Course, it only takes a few minutes, you may not even need to turn the heaters on. Heh Heh.

I'll be installing it tonight as I reassemble for the Ness Modular Apes install. Is it true that you need to wear a radiation suit when handling these bulbs?

No, but you have to hold your breath the whole installation time.

Up for air. Does polarity matter on these?

Are there any consequences for reversing polarity other than it won't light?

No, the kit will not power up if the wrong polarity is applied. Just plug it in one way, test it, and if it doesn't work, reverse the connector.

Thanks. I expect to be finishing my upgrades tonight.
