Saddlebag damper

I've now seen them on a few different pics/videos. My '12 Ness doesn't have them so I researched a little. Victory stopped with the 2010's.

Anyone with insight as so why? I think they'd be great to have since when I push the release button the door flops open up to the cable stops and bounces a few times.

They did away with them to save space and weight.

Curious. What space? They're rear of the storage compartment. And what? 5 oz ea? . I'm sure it was an economic decision too.
