Damn Wally how the heck did you do that..? Hate to hear it.. Did you do it the tech session...? I had a buddy pop in yesterday so I missed it ... Anyway someone said it above. Almost off season plus you will be off work for awhile I'm guessing... Lots of time for ride planning. By the way I never could read an X-ray so I can't tell much about it . . . Heal quickly friend. !!!

Dang Arkie! I just saw this thread. I'm so sorry this happened. It's amazing the damage we can do to ourselves by simply falling and landing wrong.

Looking at the x-ray it looks like an avulsion fracture where the ligament attaches to the head of the humerus and two twisting fractures where you might have tried to catch your fall or maybe grabbed the rail of the stairway you fell from. Did they go in and pin or screw anything yet or do they feel it can heal satisfactorily the way it is if your shoulder is immobilized?

I bet sleeping is a real pain. Literally. Do you find it easier to sleep in a recliner?

I hope it heals up uneventfully and completely so you will be fully ready to ride in the Spring.

Your observations are correct on every point.

Sleeping is definitely painful. Yesterday and today been pretty rough.

Go to surgeon tomorrow, but ER doc says he doubts surgery> Immobilize and long recovery is what hw said. Don't know his idea of LONG, but I am hoping 6-8 weeks.... and yes, I assume that is "optimistic".

The early days are always the worst of course. You will make it. I hope they have given you something to help you sleep.

The reason I mentioned sleep is when we don't get enough; our mind's can play tricks on us and our outlook can go from bad to worse. Dealing with the pain is one thing. Dealing with lack of sleep can even be worse.

I'm pulling for you brother.

Ain't it the truth. A family friend just spent a couple of days in hospital and will go through many weeks of rehab for stepping over the gas hose when filling up her car and tripping over it. Broke her ankle in three places.

Hope you have a fast recovery.

Sorry to hear this. Hope your back on your bike soon. They probably just said no riding because if you get one of those casts with the prop that sticks your arm straight out to the side. You'll get a whole string of drivers behind you waiting for you to finally make that left turn. Also probably not worth the odd cross over jockey shift mods you think about making right after the thought of riding pops into your head. Ok maybe that last one is just be me...

Sorry to read about your arm, Arkie. I can relate, as I just underwent reconstructive surgery on my left wrist. I tore a ligament. That's what I get for punching a heavy bag without taping my wrists.
