Default Need Help with fairing wiring.

I removed my inner fairing to install the 2+ pull backs and now I have a few wires I don't know for sure where they go.
I'm hopeful someone on the forum will know the answer.

I have everything hooked up correct as far as I can tell except for the single wires with spade connectors.

I know they plug into the female wires with the black connectors and I took a before photo to help out but the before photo didn't work and I can't make out the colors!

The male spade wires are light blue, dark blue and brown.
The female connectors are pink/blue, black, brown and blue.
As you can see there are 4 females and only 3 males.
The only thing I can tell that's not working is the multimedia display. The stereo (at least the iPod part) is working through all speakers.

If anyone can help me get these wires hooked up correctly I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks

As I recall, the wire pairs are of the same color, but grossly different shades. I think I had one mismatched pair but went by process of elimination.

Since I do not know what bike you have I will assume it is a cross country. Download the service manual from BBob it has all the wire colours and what they are for. Good luck and put your bike in your signature.

So brown male would go to brown female, no problem and either dark blue or light blue would go to blue or pink/blue in some combination. What happens if I plug something in wrong, am I going to fry something expensive? - and what about the left over black female, should it go somewhere I'm missing?

Are these the wires for the stereo display or something else and I'm missing another plug somewhere?

I downloaded the manual and after a thorough search found nothing that will help with this problem. Can anyone say definitively how they go?

I can't commit to that much detail. When I did mine a few weeks ago, I looked closely at those wires and determined as I described before I diconnected them. It worked for me.

I had the front fairing and inner dash off once (to add a horn and Motolights, including an in-dash switch). Here are a few things I remember:

- The wires (3?) for the heated grips are not mentioned in the shop manual (which I bought from the dealer); these need to be removed to get the dash off.

- Ditto for the ambient temp sensor, which has a loop at the end.

- Unlike you, the 2012 XCT has a HID low beam. I believe the (unused) connector for the halogen low-beam was left just hanging around in the fairing. I wonder if they do the same thing now with a connector for the former HID.

- I vaguely recall that there was an extra connector in the fairing for fog lights or something like that, but I'm not sure.

I ended up going to my dealer. The service manager pulled the headlight of one of the bikes on the showroom and let me look around to see how they go.
The light blue with the white band marked "power" went to the pink/blue, blue and brown matched with the different shaded blue and brown and the black matched a black with a red crimp band. So that problem is solved.

However, the stereo display still isn't working. My next guess is that something is suppossed to plug into the 10 pin female socket with the purple inside that's coming out of the top of the radio. I've done everything including taking the inner fairing loose again to find the male connector for this and it doesn't seem to exist! My next step is to take it to the dealer and let them solve it.

I've very impressed with this dealer. This is the second time they've assisted me at no charge for something I would expect to pay for.

So I probably should post the solution. The spade wires weren't related, probably cruise control which was the only other thing I hadn't tested. The 10 pin female socket from the radio seems to be unused. My media display problem was because I had the cb wire (with a loopback wire) plugged into the Display (it was factory marked) wire. When the dealer installed the cb they put a splitter in for the power and that's what I had wrong.
Thanks to a buddy from work who came over and helped with a second set of eyes and ideas!
