My biggest complaint against Vic is the lack of aftermarket parts.
Please don't ask me to prove it, but I read somewhere the Vic is 87% made in USA compared to 56% of Harley. What drives me crazy about that is WHY DOES IT HAVE METRIC BOLTS AND NUTS!!!!!!!! I owned a few Harley jackets--- some were made in China and Tiwan (pardon the spelling) and in spite of that their quality was top notch. Not trying to start a war, but some of the most expensive junk I have ever bought has been made in the USA. There are lazy workers here, too. I know cause I employ a few of them.
I agree, just because it is made in the US does not mean it is the best quality and just because it is made in Asia does not mean it is poor quality. I just think that if one of your advertising angles is an American made product then the rest of the things you put your company name on should be made here as well. As far as the Metric bolts go, the last 3 Chevy's I have owned used metric and so does my new Jeep so that is a non-issue for me.

It's a big issue for me. I've always owned Jap or Euro bikes so nearly all my tools are metric. If Victory wasn't, it would have been a mark against them in my book. I don't want to have to go buy a bunch of new tools.
There is something to be said for buying low cost, used machinery. I bought a used Honda CX500 that I used to commute to college on. When I finished college I traded it on something newer and got back what I paid for it. Can't beat that.
I did the same with a CX500. Bought and sold for $650. The new rider did get new tires and cleaned carbs. Replaced with an '08 Kingpin Tour, bought new in 2010 for $10K. Best trade in offer was $9500, but most were around $8K.
If resale value is at the top of your concerns list, look for a vintage Indian, early 1900's. They're awesome, and will continue to appreciate in value while you own it. Other vintage motorcycles are good options too.

IMO, what hurts resale value more than almost anything, is having left over models all over the country. Selling a brand new bike for 10 to 20 percent less than a near identical bike sitting right next to it, is going to hurt the value of all the line up, new and used. I bought my 2009 KP 8B last march, brand new for 10k dollars. Now the guy who just bought an 11 or 12 KP goes to trade in or sell his bike for what he owes or what he thinks it's worth, and I see that ad at the same time I see the brand new left over, for the same price, why wouldn't I buy the brand new one ?

Bought my 2011 used with 1700 miles back in October for $10500. Personally, I consider a bike with 1700 miles as close to new as possible. I thought it was a steal until I looked it up and the KBB value was
