I like the look, but the all black thing is so boring. The cost of styling is a complete waste as the bike just looks like a little black lump from a short distance.
No ABS? What century are the Japanese living in now?
Personally, a trunk is one of my favorite features on a bike and my wife would far prefer a luxurious backrest to the butt stop offering, but for a solo rider who is more interested in form than function, this certainly was a successful debut. It's design is about as nice as any bagger out there to my eye anyway.
The Honda FB6 has plenty of storage, without the top box, the Vision's storage is very limited. If one just wants to use the bike around town, the Vision's top box can always be removed. But if one just wants a bike for around town, why buy something as massive as a bagger anyway?
They should change the name to F68. The age you would start riding this. A Lazyboy on wheels 2 or Another Accord without doors 2. Just a few names for this. Like the goldwing, doesn't look like a motorcycle. Sure it will be reliable thou
Best looking Wing I have ever seen... And they are great bikes to ride--very balanced... However, I don't fit on one very well 6'4", 34" inseam so I'll probably never own one!
I do not know a thing about the genesis of the F6B but I do know the
Rune was developed by an American team as part of an effort to demonstrate to Honda Japan what an American cruiser sporting the factory 6 can be.
I have got to believe that the F6B is the Japanese design team response to their bumpkin cousins as to what an American cruiser should be. Maybe they did focus groups.
It is thin pickings to find a pix of the tail of the F6B (catchy name by the way). There's a good reason for that. Not Takanobu Ito's design teams best effort for sure.
For 20 large you don't get the luxury of self cancelling turn signals. That exclusive option comes with the heated grips and backrest for another grand.
I thought that Honda was going to have a hard time topping the Rune. I didn't think that they would just give up and strip a Wing.

I agree. I looked at a couple of used 'Wings before buying the XC. I was moving from the VTX1800 and Honda really only had the 'Wing, having dumped the Valkyrie (of course, there's the ST, but that's more of a sport touring bike). The stigma to the 'Wing is that it's an old person's bike. Obviously, a pretty broad generality. I liked the 'Wing's ride, they have a lot of power, handle well, lots of farkles. If they had had this available, I may have gone a different direction. Of course, Honda was years too late for my purchase.
It has a look this is for sure but I am not sold on it doing well, but if you are all Honda this fits a hole they have in the line.
The tail looks like a small car and needs something else, almost looks blank. I do see Honda hitting up the motor service such as police with this model and I bet it would shine.
I'll find one to test ride but I agree, bags that open from anywhere but the top are a waste of space, unless they are quick detachable luggage that you carry in before opening.
I'm surprised the Vision 8 Ball didn't sell better, too. Loved the look of it , but then I'm one of those fans of a murdered out ride. Black is beautiful, baby.
I'm in Colorado today for business. There's a good Honda motorcycle dealer in Denver. I'll swing by to see if they have one and shoot the **** with one of the sales guys I know. If they have one I'll get some pics.
Not sure what Honda thinks about.. I think a vtwin 1800 would be a better bike. I would probably have bought one instead of my XC just on reliability I got from my 02 VTX not to mention the stump pulling torque. My perfect bike would be a vtwin easy off trunk and bags adjustable windshield electric. Heated seat and grips oh the bike would have to look whole if the bags were removed.. 6 speed.. It looks just like a goldwing to me with a useless windshield and no trunk.. I think it's lower so at least I guess my short self could finally touch the ground on one. I know it will sell its a Honda but as someone said above.. What happened to the rune?
Honda made a killer 1800 V twin for about 8 years. They put them in the VTX 1800 only and they did not sell at all. Mine was new MSRP at $14,000 and I bought it for $8,500 after 3 years on the showroom floor. They even had a 100 lb flywheel to balance it. The engine was very similar to the Vic in performance, but the Vic is a lot smoother. It was a heavy and hard to handle bike. I owned one and it had good and bad points.
I also had an Interstate Valkyrie --the stripped down Goldwing--with the 1500 flat 6 engine. Those flat engines are very smooth. When you wanted to impress somebody, you stand up a nickle on its side on top of the engine and crank it. Nickle never moves--its just that smooth. 80 MPH on the interstate is like you are not moving at all. The downside is they are top heavy (to me anyway) and that big azz engine gives you no place to put your feet unless you get hiway bars and then you ride all day in the "birthing" position. They are quite nimble for big bikes. The black looks great--- but they are not cheap.

.
They simply overproduced the bike.. Tons were sold.. Hell the damn things are almost as numerous as Harley's because they just won't wear out.. I never thought mine handled bad at all just didn't have any ground clearance as evident by my ground off foot pegs.. I think Honda missed the boat by not making something like the street glide as that style bike is very popular ... I'm not sure the goldwing "thing" will be as popular.. I think the crank shaft is 40 lbs
point was raised over and over on another unnamed forum
that you are still riding a wing.feet are behind you and you cant
stretch out w/o some am front pegs that i think are fugly,
i rode a gw before buying the cr .i didnt like the seating setup
at all for me.my dealer said they arent even taking orders yet,
and he isnt thrilled with the bike from a sales standpoint.guess i talked myself out of one. taking down the F6B poster off the
wall and putting the farrah fawcett one back up.--irv
I like it - it's more "sporty" looking. But they went to low on the wind shield so you would be a bobble head on the freeway. You would need to add a taller windshield - more money and it will take from the sporty look - might just as well get the full blown GW or better yet a Cross bike.
