Is a speedometer difficult to replace? I can buy a new OEM, just curious to see how much work I can do myself and how much I have to let the dealer do?
It's very easy. Unbolt the old one, bolt on the new one - unplug the old one, plug in the new one.
Before you splurge on a new speedo, I would try to get the old one working again. Take the old one off the bike, shake it, tap it, and see if that frees up the indicator. If not, I would at least open it up, and see if anything obvious is wrong that can be fixed. If all that fails, then go ahead and order a new one.
