Talking Tip over protection!

I just had the uinfortunate experience of dropping my 2011 X-roads. A sudden need to stop at the exact moment my front wheel was on an oily patch caused the front to lock and the bike to drop! I was going about 20 mph at the time. Fortunately I was unharmed except for a sore ass and ripped pants. I heard horibble scraping as the bike slid to a stop and expected the worst. To my happiness, it was just leaning over on the front bar! (Tubular) NO VISIBLE DAMAGE! Just some scrapes where you can't see them, on the lowwer corner of the bar and on one og the heatshields. Bags undamaged. What a great design! New Found Respect for Victory!

Good to hear that the bike is OK but more important that you walked away with no major injuries! I got the tubular bars for mine as well as the saddlebag guards but the bag guards are on back order. When I was looking to buy my cross roads I was wanting to get the 2012 because of the ABS but no one had a 12 within a 3 hour radius and only one had two 2011 models (black and red) so I went with that.

An 18 year old on a cell phone in daddy's Mercedes T-boned me (fortunately not too hard) and I went down on my right side. Same as you, only the outer bottom of the tubular crash bar was scuffed as was the outer bottom edge of the right hard case. She had good insurance which paid for a set of case protectors that I installed and worked well during the next tip over. I just sanded and repainted the minor damage on the case and replaced the scuffed bar and pocketed the remainder. Now I have a nice farckle and fun fund.

My first bike went down on a patch of oil leaking out the back of a pickup. Dropped so fast, I couldn't react if I wanted to. Spun 180 on the highway bars, picked the bike up, and drove to work. Highway bars are priceless, if even for picking the bike up at a less than horizontal angle when tipping over at a stop.
