99 V92c Charging Issues
I have a 99 V92c, Stage 1 slip-ons and K&N, I have a chip in the mail to fix the fuel mapping. About 1 month ago, the battery died and I replaced it with a new on. The alt was reading as high as 14v with the old battery. It had a bad cell and I though that was allowing it to over charge. The new one (charged properly on a charger before install) has only gone to 12.2, which makes me think the system (rec/reg and stator) was working fine. Last weekend I rode about 150mi and it showed 10.8-11.5 throughout the day. Today, it wouldnt go above 11.0 and was normally at 10.4-10.8 under a full load. The last stop of the day (local riding, maybe 20mi) the bike wouldnt start. The reading was 10.5-10.8 and not enough juice to turn the motor over. The lights all work, but I got the solenoid *click, click click* and had to jump it to get it home. Once here, it again wouldnt start and was showing 10.8. I dont believe the battery is the issue now. I remove it and keep it on a battery tender when I wont be riding the bike for 7 or more days. Does this sound like a bad rectifer/regulator, stator, coil, or (god forbid) the ecu???
