This is pure speculation, but since the presence of the tachometer is optional, I would assume there is no such law.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Tach on my TSX is on the left, so that's where I'll put it. Just ordered one today

Honda East Toledo quoted $169 for the kit - next best price. Don't forget to use the code for an extra 5%. Install was simple: disconnect speedo wire in headlight nacelle / remove bracket / remove speedo and small grommets from bracket / install speedo, tach and grommets, per instructions, into new bracket / attach to bike / reconnect speedo wire / dig around for tach connector and hook it up. Viola! Helpful tip: spray the two small grommets with silicone and they will remove and install a lot easier. If you know which end of the screwdriver is the handle, it'll be an easy job for you.

Thanks for the info

I really hope nobody thought I was serious because I just made it up. I can honestly that I've seen a few european bikes and cars that did have the tach to the left of the speedo ad the tach was much larger than the speedo. I guess RPM is more important than speed in some cases.
