Looking at the bike today and noticed the front filler that I just replaced went missing again so I am done with them. So I got 2 rear fillers for sale which I will sell for $15 + shipping each. This is NOT a set but both are the rear fillers.

I have to wonder if it is something just with my bike as I had them on my 04 and never a problem. They wedge into the opening and have a set screw which applies pressure to a disc pushing the filler upward to hold it in place. The first one I lost was installed by the previous owner and I figured he didn't have it tight enough. I even applied some thread locker to the second one. I would blame the freakin road I live on that is loaded with bumps and gaps that run the width of the road every 30 ft. 2nd gear and going as slow as possible still rattles the bike.

I can see right off why you were losing them. Either they are cheap rip-offs and/or you did not have them installed correctly and securely. Compare my photo with yours.

Which one did you lose, or was it both? Yea, a lot of stuff is made in China no matter who's name is on it or what you pay. I would not be surprised that they all are made there.

Sorry for your runaway parts. :(

I bought some of these over winter and forgot to install them. Hopefully mine don't run off too. I don't see any way to add extra security to them other than a rubber band around filler and plug boot.

My bike seems like the suspension is a lot stiffer than my 04 was. I got to wonder if this has something to do with it.
I was thinking if a small piece of rubber under the disc, or maybe an o-ring would help at all.
You possibly got a good idea there. Maybe put a screw on the back of the filler to attach an insulated wire looped around the plug wire. Or maybe a zip tie?? Wish I thought of this myself after losing the first one. I will never know unless I some how find one for next to nothing.

I fiddled around with one of the rear fillers today just for the heck of it. I took a length of 16 gauge wire wrapped it under the first full fin and twisted it tight at the back of the filler. Then went around the boot of the plug wire making a loop. I installed it just to make sure it would sit fully in place,it did with no problem. The black wire is totally unnoticeable. If I ever find a front filler I would definitely use this.

I took mine out of package but not mounted on bike yet. Might put on before multi state trip.
They look like bottom foot is rubber I don't see that letting go.
I have another thought too using 3M tape on bottom. That holds great and can be peeled off and replaced during maintenance.

I've had the Kuryakyn set for a couple of years now. When mounted, mine look exactly like the picture Ricz posted. I see no way for these to just fall off as they're kind of a pain to remove when I annually replace the spark plugs. The one remaining cover originally posted is clearly not mounted correctly as there's way too much space under the cover as mounted. And yes, the original Kuryakyn set I bought had a Made In China sticker on the packaging.

Yea, and one would have thought that rear would have fell out but it didn't. Like I said I had them on my other Kingpin for some time and never a problem. I actually found a front to replace the lost one. When I get it the safety wires will be going on both fore sure. ..And I would almost bet they won't ever come loose. If that's what it will take!
I got some other recent pics that I'm gonna check to see if I had that back one in right or off by a fin. I removed it after the loss of front and believe I shoved it back in to take the pic. I don't think the foot would have even reached the motor to tighten it and would have fell out .(foot itself) ... found a pic, they are in correct..... OK , can't figure out how to upload the pic and it is 2:30 am I give up

Well both of mine are gone today! WTF they lasted 2500 miles. 300 miles today. Lost them both sometime in the middle of the day. They were the cheap ones on eBay. My guess the plastic pressure point below maybe shrinks or melts just enough to let the them fall off.

I was thinking about putting a dot of sandpaper under the pressure point. What have you guys done to keep them on?

I was able to make a deal with the seller I bought the last set from, $20 for the one. When I got the package the set was in there. Now I got 2 xtra rears. Got them installed with heavy plastic twist wraps around them to keep them with the bike should they fall out again. I'll bet now that I did that they will never loosen up again. They have been on the bike about 2 weeks now. I also loosened up the shock some as it was so stiff it would rattle your bones when riding on the sh**ty Conn. roads.Putting 2 and 2 together the previous owner most likely had the shock tightened to try to keep the bike from bottoming when the lowering links were installed I'm sure this played a part with the filler falling out. I'm actually going to loosen it a bit more as it still is a bit stiff.
