Default American content

I thought some here might be interested.

What could be more American than a Chevrolet Camaro? The answer might surprise you: A study by American University's Kogod School of Business found that the Toyota Camry (78.5%) and the Honda Accord (76%) both contain more domestic content than the Chevrolet Camaro (68%), which barely edges out the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (67.5%) and the Kia Sorento (67%).

The fact is, we live in a brave new world where "American" cars are built in Korea, "German" cars originate in Mexico and "Japanese" cars come from the good old US of A. But that's not all—parts for cars assembled in America often come from abroad. That means the cars in a city crowded with GM, Ford and Chrysler products might be less American than one filled with Toyotas and Hondas.

Not all those who wander are lost.

Almost correct the Japanese brought along their manufacturers to the USA and set up cooperate offices and manufacturing here so in a way it's American made except by a Japanese owned company. Twist there.

They choose regions with low per hour rates to set up shop.

I remember the way Toyota spoke of Americans in the 80 as lazy and unproductive and that's a crock of ****.

Keep going and come to Australia.
Better riding and more Victory dealers. Trouble is, we have ISIS recruits as well.

Not really Vin. The captives (as they used to be called) set up shop in rural areas where people had a good work ethic, good values and are anti union. To keep the union wolf from their doors, they pay above union wages. Granted, I'm going on old info here, so things might have changed in recent years.

2010 Midnight Cherry XR. 7Jurock, Lloydz AF, ATS, AFR tuned VFCIII, IAV, and T-6 and locally repacked pipes = big smiles. SOLD to a dear friend, so it's still in the family."
2017 Spyder F3 Limited - keeps this old guy in the wind and riding with friends.

They definitely pay above union wages here. Alabama is a right to work state and Tuscaloosa has about the lowest unemployment in the state. Mercedes has expanded twice in the last five years and just recently brought their M-class here to begin construction. They make two models here that they only sell in Germany.

You may very well be right I just remember when they first opened in Texas where my nephew is a maintenance worker was because of wages. He makes a great living but not union pay, his words.
