Default Wireless Charger Mount for Motorcycle???

I have been looking for a phone mount that has a wireless charger built in. Anyone have one?

I have a Samsung S7. Wife bought me a wireless charger soon after I go the phone. I thought it was just a gimmick. But wow......... It is so awesome to just set the phone down to charge it. It has been months since I plugged the phone in.

Got me thinking. What if I could install a simi-permanent mount for the phone on the handlebars with no wires to plug in? Wireless charging and Bluetooth to the audio system. Just set the phone in the cradle and go. Then just remove the phone from the cradle when I get off the bike. No worries about wires or rain getting into connectors.

I have no solutions currently but I would like to follow this discussion. Great idea though.

I would think that someone out there can make a mount with a wireless charger built into it, if not I would get some patents going for that stuff cause I can see that taking off soon.

I have no personal knowledge of this, but on-bike wireless charging seems to have been attempted by a few folks, apparently successfully, as DIY projects.

Check out a couple of forum threads and one video:

I have been looking at eBay and Amazon... thinking about how to combine an available wireless charger with a low cost mount and make it all water proof. Would be nice to see a product already available, but might have to go the DIY route.

Default Update, re iPhone8 and X

I'm on the mailing list for a company called Scosche, and got an email today announcing a wireless charging mount for the new iPhones (same day they were announced). See:

https://www.scosche.com/collections/...nt%20(Consumer)

I don't see handlebar mounts, but I'd guess they can't be far behind, at least from some vendor. Or may already exist; I notice farther down the page that these wireless-charging mounts have been available already for a bunch of other phone brands.

Cheers,

Bill P.

As an update...

I bought a RAM "X" mount ($30 Amazon) and a cheap wireless charging pad, the thinnest one I could find ($10 Amazon). Charger pad is sealed except where the USB cable plugs into it. Removed the sticker from the Ram mount, took some thin industrial grade double sided and stuck the charger to the mount with the USB hole facing down. Already had a 10" USB cable and a charger that fits the power port on the fairing.

Put it all together and... BAMMMM. Wireless charger mount. Wouldn't call it water proof, more like water resistant.

Then I added an el'cheapo Bluetooth adapter that attaches to the 30-pin iPod connector ($12 Amazon). Now I can use Waze, Pandora, or whatever and get the audio through my speakers and not kill my cellphone battery.

It holds my Samsung S7 very well. Very secure, no movement without the tether. I have what you would call a thinner case on the phone. If you have like an OtterBox or other bulky case this may not work without modifying the Ram mount. But I think a little tweaking of the arms and this setup would accommodate any case.

I did something very similar in my truck. I had a cradle already and bought a cheap very thin wireless pad and stuck it to the cradle and works like a charm.
