Default Good Reason to Go to Cuba

Cubans have always amazed me with their ingenuity for keeping antique cars alive. But these old Harleys really are a treat to see too.

Beautiful,

at around before and after 1998 i went to Uruguay 3 times if I can remember correctly, and I seen soooo many cars from 1930 to 1950 still on the road, and wooden refrigerator was standard there.... How awesome is that...

For 2 months a year the roads were covered with small parrots, millions of them.... Warming up on the asfalt in the morning sun, and we were the only cars driving 120 Km per hour to get to work on time.... Coz it the other cars only went about 20 Km per hours...

I fell in love with that country

We were working in Puerto de Conchillas ..... We had some glorious fun there....

Why go to Cuba when your local H-D dealer has a showroom full of bikes that look just like those.

2010 Midnight Cherry XR. 7Jurock, Lloydz AF, ATS, AFR tuned VFCIII, IAV, and T-6 and locally repacked pipes = big smiles. SOLD to a dear friend, so it's still in the family."
2017 Spyder F3 Limited - keeps this old guy in the wind and riding with friends.

Cuban cars may look great in photos but very few of them look as good in person. I was disappointed when I was able to see quite a few up close. You soon see the parts that look to be held together with paint over the bubbly surfaces and realize the bumpers are spray painted a silver colour.

I have to say though, looking under the hood you really must admire their "engine-uity" at keeping those things running over the years. Bolted and wired on non-OEM parts from Russia and Mexico are common. Still, nice to look at.

Not all those who wander are lost.
