Ive just returned from Phillip Island where I was volunteer flag marshal for the friday practice and qualifying and the Saturdays racing.
What a fantastic racetrack Phillip Island Grand Prix track is , undoubtable one of the worlds best.
Every category of racecar was running, from Formula V and Formula Ford right through to the Big Bangers the Formula 5000s!
Running 307 Chev small blocks (some 308 Aussie blocks) 5000cc or 5 litre.
With mechanical fuel injection and developing 500-600 hp these open wheelers are the 'ducks guts' .
I know theres a few motorheads on this forum who would love to see some pix so for them here ya go...
The sound of 307 cubic inches of American Steel at 9000rpm was a very spiritualexperience and on decel words fail me.
Not interested? Move along please...
Theres a story behind my epic trip south for a weekend standing in the hot sun waving blue, yellow, white, and red flags.
But hey the suns out and Im off for a ride.
Missed my Vegas the 5 days I was away.
