Run to Central Texas
We rode out last Friday morning at 6:30 am. It was 48 degrees F, windy with overcast. A 343 mile run and we got into sunshine the last hundred miles. Got to our destination about 4:00 pm. We made several stops heading down. Then there was a cook out with about 17 locals. Got to bed about midnight. Our host were great. They put us up for 2 nights. They fed the 3 of us supper Friday and Saturday night, breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning. There was a 80% chance of rain Saturday. It was cloudy and in the 50's that morning, but wasn't raining. At 10:30 am we rode out to the Horny Toad Bar and Grill for lunch in Cranfills Gap, TX. It started raining about 15 minutes after we left, but we road on. We had to ride slower than normal because of the rain. I hated that because these roads are windy and a blast to ride. We road in a indirect way to the Horny Toad just to get some riding in. We got there about 12:30and the rain had stopped. We walked out after lunch and the roads were pretty much dry. So we headed out to Walnut Springs at a much faster pace that before. Walnut Springs is a dying down. The down town is dead except for 3 bars. A game room and soon to be coffee desert shop. A guy out of Fort Worth, TX came in and opened a bar. The first time I went to the town that's all that was there. The second time 2 bars, third time 3 bars. I guess he is trying to make it a party town. The old bank will the coffee desert shop and by them had been held up by Bonny and Clyde. We road out from there to the Tokio Store which is just west of West, Tx. The sun was out much of the time by now. Then back to Ricks house. Sunday morning it was cloudy and cool and we headed home about 9:00 am.
