I saw that no one else had posted anything about this anywhere else on here, very sad day for bikers when someone can kill 7, injured 3 others and then go home to their family as if they had done no wrong.

Incredible, from what I could tell he ran them over from behind. What the heck did he do, fall asleep?

Craig Ripley mentioned this tragedy in his video diary. He really took it hard, which got to me as well. Live, love and ride hard, we never know when its going to be over...

I have heard unconfirmed stories that the pickup drifted right into the oncoming lane and then jerked back into correct lane. This caused an over-correction which led to trailer instability and eventual jack-knifing of the trailer such that the trailer went sideways into the oncoming lane and took out the bikers. Again, this is an unconfirmed story at this point.

G'day,

I saw an article during my lunch time news troll that he was charged with seven counts of negligent homicide. I guess we still have a lot more coming on this one.

My prayers to the family and friends of the riders.

Yeah, in the photos you could see the truck was pulling a very large trailer which to me looks too big for a standard pick up truck to be towing.
I'm wondering if he had trailer brakes hooked up of possibly lost his brakes all together. Other than what's mentioned above, intoxicated, or distracted driving it's the only thing that would make sense for plowing into the back of any vehicles whether cars or bikes.

Born in the deepest jungles of India, I was raised by a friendly bear, until I was kidnapped by a pack of unruly baboons who taught me the finer points of swing jazz, all the while being stalked by an incompetent python and an evil but mis-understood tiger... Ummm, wait a minute, that's the Jungle book, no I was raised just outside of St. Louis, But...in the deepest jungles of a middle class neighborhood .

The truck is a Ram 2500 Diesel which can tow up to 17,500 lbs and it appears the trailer was empty. Either way it would appear that this was a tragic accident that was likely caused by a drowsy/drugged or distracted driver. Based on this guys history of drunk driving there is no way he should have had a commercial DL.

What would trigger the need for a commercial driver's license? Would driving that large a truck require it? Would pulling that large a trailer require it? Would being employed to drive a vehicle/trailer that size require it? I'm not being a smart-a$$. I truly know nothing about CDLs and am wondering what triggers a requirement to have one. It cannot simply be driving for business. Uber drivers and sales persons show drive cars as a significant part of their job don't require a CDL so it must be something more. What is the trigger?
