Default Cheap Way To Record Your Ride

There are some very good cameras on the market to record rides and various things people do like skiing, roller skating, etc.

I just got an ad from Newegg because I like their products and prices. In was an ad for a pair of sunglasses that will record everything you see and then you simply upload it to a DVR or a computer for viewing. At $30 it seems like an inexpensive way to give something like that a try for those Dragon rides and other cool places.

On another thought; I guess our society has gotten to the point to where we can assume we are being recorded all the time. I live like I am being recorded; especially outside the house. Certainly everything on the Internet, email, forums, etc are being recorded forever.

And yes; I do plan on ordering a pair. Could be fun.

I thought the same thing about a cheap camera that Woot.com had one day. It was about the same price. In Hi-Def mode it will record about 15 minutes before running out of space. It has 2GB built in memory. The lower res is not watchable, and it didn't last any longer. Didn't really understand that. Also the high res quality is ok, but it's nothing like what I see from Go-Pros. I need to order a SD card as the one I have will take those as well. My guess is go ahead and get one cause the built in memory is probably not enough to do anything with. I have looked and 32G is about $30.00 on Newegg.

All likely true Term. I don't expect a $30 device to work as well as a $200 device that does the same thing and is likely much better overall for that purpose. Also, many folks have mini SD cards in their phones already or for their regular digital camera. A 32Gb should do it in hi def.

Along the same lines I bought a $25 set of sunglasses that had an mp3 built into it on the recommendation of someone on a bike forum. Even though it worked fine for that person; it didn't work very well for me. It would likely work great for someone who wore a full or at least a 3/4 face helmet that fully covered the ears. Otherwise the wind noise made the ear pieces not work well enough to enjoy the music. I still have those sitting in a drawer. Maybe someday I will put them into service with the right helmet when I can't hear the speakers well enough on long fast rides.

Only for you my friend. I'll PM you all the good ones and if you are really good; some of those wet t-shirt contests.

Might be a while though. I haven't been going on bike runs lately. More into solo rides these days. Bike runs are more of a been there done that thing to me nowadays.

I'd rather go to Front Sight for more shooting training. Fun stuff that.

Bbob, those are very nicely priced entry level video glasses. At $30, anybody can try to see if they like something like that or not, without investing an arm and a leg. Good find.

For those who can afford higher prices and demand more, there are other alternatives.

If you want at least one hour of 1080p video recording capability, or even the option of polarized lens, you're going to have to climb in the $300 neighborhood for a pair.
See below video for the Pivotheads in action at Sturgis 2012:
By the way, fast forward to 2:54 in the above video to see a white XCT show up in the view.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Thanks CR. I didn't even think about looking to see what others might be available. Looks like quite a few choices and quite a range in prices.

for $150 look like they might be a good choice for those who are ok with the 780p resolution.

Some folks who live in cold weather places like to watch videos of their rides during the cold months. Seems like a good way to do that and capture other activities in a very stealthy way.
