A riding buddy of mine told me this story recently.

He was riding his m50 last year down the on ramp to a Hwy. It wasn't until he got to the merge portion that he realized there were about 40 or 50 patches roaring down the highway he was merging to. My buddy is a big burly knock around type sailor, but this was his FIRST season on the bike. He had no idea of the etiquette. Technically if he maintained speed and merged in as he would any other day he would have found himself right at the front of the pack. He kind of panicked a little and slowed down and was just going to wait it out when the pack leader waived him in...to the front of the pack. He said he knows he shouldn't have been nervous but he was the whole time...I said I guarantee they were just laughing at you cause they knew you'd be nervous. We laughed.

My dad rode with 1% but never patched in. I've been to a few pig roasts at the clubhouse as a young lad. Great people great fun. Fun is fun though. Just wouldnt want to find myself in the middle of bad business with them.

Just read through the whole thread. Quite the back and forth for awhile there. Bottom line is if you're respectful (like you should be to EVERYONE) no ones going to bother you. There are wannabe clubs here, some 1% supporters, some just tough looking dudes, if you're not interested in being in an MC I see no real reason to bone up on the "rules". Just dont be an ass with a big mouth. When I first moved to this neck of the woods we were all told to stay away from a specific street. "Bad things happen" "gangs" what have you. Not MC's just rapper gangsta wannabes. For the first few weeks I avoided the street unsure how bad it was. After awhile I realized I'm not an asshole, nor am I looking for trouble. Guess what? I walk that street all the time now and never had a problem. See they gave us the blanket warning because some sailors get drunk and mouthy and say stupid shit to the wrong people. If you're not an asshole or an idiot you've got nothing to worry about with MCs, same isn't always true with street thugs.

Example.
Long story short, I went to a party with my buddy who had friends in from out of town. He got so hammered and belligerent HIS buds came to me and said "you better get your buddy out of here". So we left. Well this kid was uncontrollable I was trying to point him in the direction of his home but he wasn't having it. "we're fucking going downtown WooburpWoo!" Of course downtown meant a stint on the street I just mentioned. So walking down the street shaking my head at this guy I hear a voice from behind us;
GANGSTAS; "yo you got a light"
MyBuddy; "I ain't got fucking nothing"
ME; "Ya, I got a light man...ignore him he's drunk" - gave him my lighter
Buddy "we ain't got fucking nothing!"
ME: "Shut up mike"
Buddy: "Fuck you"

So now we are heading the same direction as these two stereotypical gangsta thug wannabes and kind of paired off. One was walking more inline with my buddy giving him the evil eye. Me walking with the guy that bummed my lighter. Im trying to get us to go a different direction but my drunk buddy just keeps on pressing rambling stupid shit. One guy stops looks at me says in all seriousness; "you cool, but I don't wanna fucking stab your buddy".

I finally got Mike to follow me home. Needless to say that is the last time I babysat Mike. Moral of the story is. Be an ass and stupid shit happens. Be cool and you'll be fine. No doubt in my mind if me and Mike were both acting like idiots we would have got jumped that night.

Its the gangsta kids we have sooooo many of that concern me more the 1% MCs. Those kids will fuck you up for your iphone. OR over 20 bucks. No "rules" to follow with those kids.

Here On Long Island it is clearly a Red & White / 81 territory.

Most of the patched in clubs here, ware the 81 patch to show support.

Lots of bandanas covering faces as well. . . .

There is a very bad history of violence between the HA and the Pagans.

Just google it and it is there for everyone to read.

I have many stories I could share... but I dont want to bore any of you.
