Question Things to look for on 08 Vision

I have done a couple different searches in different places to kind of feel out common problems with the 08 Visions. I have on in consideration that has 54k on it. He is asking $9k, and is including a pull behind trailer. I am waiting on info on the trailer.
So at the risk of getting bounced out of here, what are if any the major things that this model had. I have read that there was a rear brake master cylinder problem. Was this a recall that was taken care of by Victory? Also some sort of rear half of the front fender braking off and a new bracket and fender. Was this a recall/dealer fix?
I'm pretty well inclined to check the obvious. Drive belt, tire condition, operation of bags etc. If there is a couple threads someone has stored I'm up for a read, look thru.

I have a 2008 Vision Tour Premium, bought new in March 09. About 70,000 miles. Mine runs rich and need to change plugs on a regular basis. A squeak from the rear pulley that was changed under warranty. Other than that, tires and oil changes. As for the front fender, they do crack, I repaired mine several times. The dealers are now replacing either the front or rear section under warranty. My replacement is now in the dealer and will be done in the spring under a recall. Do not know what the recall number is.

I friend of mine just bought a 2008 Vision Tour Premium, low miles, lots of options and was over 13K, without a trailer.
There are 3 levels of Vision in 2008.
Vision, Vision Tour, Vision Tour Premium
The hitch alone is $400, plus installation, plus the wiring, if it is any kind of brand name trailer, and the bike is in good condition, that sounds like a good price.

There is a bad brake line from master cylinder to the link valve. I had one time lost rear brake. All I did was bleed the front right caliper and have never had a problem after that. (center bleeder)
The bike is pretty much bullet prof.
I have a car tire on the rear and with 17 thousand on it looks like I can get another 10 thousand. The bike handles great

As for your trailer take the wheel bearings out and go to bearing store and ask for high rpm bearing and repack with a silicon grease.

Thanks guys. I ran across the bike listed on e-bay. LOL I asked for pics and maybe he tried to send them to me. I got an e-mail that said "from Bill Smith" or whatever, the e-mail had a link to some cloud or google drive thingy that didnt work. While poking around the other night I found a different listing for the bike and it has a couple of pics of the trailer too. Looks to be one of the harbor freight or Norther Tool flat jobs with the car top carrier on it. 10" wheels I think. It looks to be done decently. Several guy over on the Venture site I'm on have them made that way. Wheel bearings are the first thing they "fix" by repacking or replacing. Followed by LED lights.
MY RSV has about 46k on it and miles are nothing on these water cooled motors. I did watch like 5 videos that were posted in another thread on this board about the engine on the Vision. I like how the guy kept eluding to basicly HD had not updated much of their design since the 40's or 50"s. I never did understand why they do no run an oil cooler on a HD. After seeing the video and him saying they only he about 3-5 psi @ idle, well that might be it. Not enough pressure to move oil thru cooler at idle and barely at speed.

Don't believe all that said in the videos.
For one a primary chain does not make noise if adjusted correctly. And the primary with the chain is 87% quitter then Vic. Yes Harley has more gaskets but then you don't have to split the cases to repair the tranie. The stator is just the reverse of Vic but it does the same job.
On a 2009 and up Harley you can pull the starter by removing 3 bolts and one wire and with in 20 min. Vic takes 20 min to just get the exhaust out of the way.

The stator on the RSV is a part that gives some more problems than others. Guys running heated gear and such have more issues. Not terribly hard to change, but left exhaust has to come off to get side case off too. But the electrical system is not that stout (designed in 90's) and when you load it up... Well it just gets tired.
Other than the early 92c motors up to like 2001 I have not heard of anybody with a Vic having trans problems..

Don't know if you ever bought a Vision. My 2008 came with a fuel gage issue. It was a result of the float on the fuel pump. Normal repair is to replace the entire fuel pump assembly at $400 part price. My Victory dealer replaced the float ($7 part) from an equivalent snowmobile part and charged $250 total. Nice to have the fuel gage functional. No other issues. Bought with 13K and have 18K on it now.

One other strange issue was electrical. It was a result of the ground wire needing cleaning. Windshield would move on its own and display was not functioning correctly.
