Default Vision and the 7JuRock shield - evaluation

Well I had have done a fair amount of reading on installing differnt shields. Finally, decided on trying the 7JuRock flip shield at a 15" height with grey tint. 120 plush shipping sounded REALLY good so I went for it not expecting a whole lot of improvement over an already great wind envelope. Drafting up this thread as a discussion on the 7JuRock shield ONLY not debating which shield is or could be better or worse. Comparison is fine but trying to collect other riders info/questions on a current thread to hopefully help someone else and give some good discussion about the shield. Before anyone post worthless without pics, I am posting them as soon as it quits raining and I can take them.

Vendor: 7JuRock.com
Price: Started at 100.00
Tint: +10.00
Flip: +10.00
Shipping: Fedex ground (5 day) about 27.00 (varies Im sure)
Followup/status on order: Excellent also asking for feedback from me after installation and riding on how/what I like or would like to see improved.
Packaging: Bubblewrap, paper packed in proper shipping carton labled glass. Also had instructions on cleaning.

Shield replacing my stock 17.5" clear:
15" flip tinted grey
Holes were drilled on the money with almost perfect contours to the vision mount brackets
No tinting around Vision mounts like on stock shield
Flip is very similar it appears to the KlockWerks but not as prodominent.
Screen all the way down has LESS buffeting than my stock all the way down and this is confirmed by no goggles shaking at 85 this morning on the hwy.
Screen all the way up is perfect for my line of vision at 5'9" stock suspension.

My first 30 miles have been impressive, will add to this after a few more miles. Pics posted soon. Any questions or feedback about the shield, post them and lets dig into this. At 147 bucks out the door it seemed very good and the wind evelope is flat amazing. More to come!

I have been looking at the same windshield, I am 6'1" so I was thinking maybe a 16" or 17". The stock wind shield is ok, however the copilot say with stock shield she is getting a lot of buffeting on her helmet. Not sure if it is the helmet it self or the shield. Suspect shield. What does your administrator think. AM real interested, as you know if the comptroller is happy so are you.

Thanks
Rick

Well here is what I have so far. Got my daughter on back, 5'9" also and on the stock screen she did complain about buffeting catching her helmet more than on the back of my TC. I didnt prompt her for anything. I used the scientific method of raising my hand with the stock screen full up to determine the bulk of the airstream and its path over me and into the pinion. Then full down. After installing the 15" 7Jurock flip, full down is no worse now (I think better) for your passenger than full up was with the stock. I get VERY little buffeting at full down runing speeds up to 85. Had a couple gusty days and kept track of driving into the wind vs with it according to the weather guessers...

My GUESS would be the 17" flip could give you what your looking for. I do know at 5'9" with the screen up my top of the shield as at the base of the car tires in front of me at about 2 car lengths. I do notice the distortion looking through the top of the flip at the 10 and 2 positions which can be a little wierd but it is a flip and the stock had its distortion points too. The light grey is PERFECT night or day and I do like how it tames the bright concrete pavement in full day light. So far, I got about 350+ on the wind screen and have not had any problems.

Appearance.. I have had TONS of comments (even GoldWing riders) of how well it looks with the Vision lines. Absolutely best money spent and my biggest regret now is not doing it earlier in the winter whent I would have got even more benefit. Have NOT talked to anyone on the CB yet but can only imagine it is better because I hear much better stereo and the bike exhaust has deeper tones now I feel because I am not getting the wind blast in my shorty helmet. Look at these pics and if you need more let me know.

Safe ridin,
Tim

Well Rick still haven't got a passenger on the back but standing up at 70 does not rip your helmet off anymore. Also logged about an hour in heavy downpours and wind yesterday. Felt he shield performed well and noticed that when full up if you bump the shield down just a lil that it really changes the airflow. You know how our shields kind of lay back that last inch up or all the way down. Seemed to help remove mor rain from he screen. So I jinks the pinion will do well in weather as well.

Anyone else got input from 7Jurock on the vision post it! Lol

Still happy with the shield Tim ? I'm thinking about getting one. I was thinking 19" (I am 6-1") but after reading this thread I am thinking 17 or 18 at the most.

I better do this quick, I'd like to have it on before I leave for Sturgis on the 4th...

Take a peace of card board and tape it to the windshield to give your self a idea of what it might be.

I have the 15" and get a lot of cold wind on my back when its just me. I think the windshield is at the wrong angle to really benefit us

I am still absolutely happy with 7jurock flip. The light smoke tint is still making me happy and no significant swirls on the screen.

Height. Ok your 6-1 and I'm 5-9 and our stock shields are 17.5". For me, I wanted the flip for wind deflection and 15.5 for improved when I put it all the way down. Loosing 2.5 did that and in the down position the wind seems to be just over the top of me. If I raise a bit I catch it. My rider will catch it when all the way down but much better off even though it's shorter when I have it full up. Full up the top is below my line of site.

So I would think if windscreen up gives you a clear line of site go with 17 which is what you have now. 2 more inches is just more drag and I like the looks of the lower screen footprint.

Wind in the back VJ is speaking of. VJ I would be curious if you have lowered your screen just enough that the notches for the fairing drop behind the front spoiler. Maybe 2". I've noticed that when I do this I get less air across my grips which could be causing some of what you described. Just a thought

So if you want the Goldwing look, 19, cross between cool and comfort 17, cool and functional 15 and just plain dark tint cool go 13.
