Default Victory Vision Head Leaks Oil

Well, my almost new Vision is down waiting for word from Polaris as to how they are going to fix my leaking and maybe warped head.

Here's the story-
I took it in to get the first 500mi service done and oil changed back in June.

I made a 420mi road trip from Glendale to Winslow through Flagstaff to visit a new casino that had opened up. And returned on another route after taking the scenic route up.

Parked the bike in the garage. I work as an AC Tech in the Phoenix area so I did not have much of a chance to ride it at all this summer, but I started it and would let it warm up a few times. Plus it was pretty hot here this summer in June and July.

During the down time in the garage the battery went fully dead so I moved the bike over closer to a plugin and noticed a spot of fresh oil on the floor from the bike. I was pissed to see it, as I thought that I had spent a good amount of money to finally get a bike that needed little or no repairs and now it had a possible leak from somewhere. I dismissed it as maybe overage or spillage from the recent oil change.

Booked a service appointment for the bike for them to look at why it was shimmying and vibrating at speeds over 60mph? It had been doing this since new. And I wanted them to check and see why it had a wobble when it was in wind or freeway traffic.

So later that day the tech called me and said that it looked like the front wheel had never been balanced, the rear had weights on it but he rebalanced it also and readjusted the rear alignment.

The tech then proceeds to tell me that he noticed there was oil seeping from my heads and it was due to either being warped and I may have gotten a bad one from Victory! He was at that moment doing a warranty repair on another Vision with exact same problem, and Polaris had taken over two weeks to send the parts?

Well it's been just shy of two weeks now for me without my Ness in some of the best riding weather we have seen this year and I am without my bike.

I got a call from the GM at the Vic dealership the other day and he said they had cleaned the oil of the head and it seemed as though it had stopped? How the [email protected]#$ does an oil leak cure itself? He wanted me to take it and ride it some and bring it back if it leaked again. I politely told him that there is now way in hell I am picking it up until Victory fixes it and I'm sure that with the Diamond cut heads they should not be happy about new set since the bike is still under the first year warranty until Nov 2nd.

He even suggested that the gasket was bad, maybe the head needed torqued, and that it may have just been getting broke in? I told him that was a bunch of crap as my 04 Ultra Classic never leaked a drop and I had little or no service problems.

This issue seems to be a larger one than I expected as after googling it there seems to be several others out there that have the same problem?

I am very disappointed in the bike and Victory for sending out a product with a bunch of hype as to it's great service and reliability.

No longer will I ever bash Harley again over my Vision when it appears they all have problems, but I can say that the 05 Kawasaki Mean Streak I owned never leaked a drop either, neither did our 08 Honda Spirit, nor our 2010 yamaha Vstar!

I read elsewhere that Victory had produced a bunch of porous warped heads in 2012-13 models and many now have the same problem?

It's going to be very hard to ever trust Victory or my Vision again after this-
Any comments would be welcome

There's a thread about my oil leak which initially both I and the dealer thought was a head gasket (warped or porous head) leak.

https://www.victoryforums.com/showthread.php?t=41897

While back at home after the dealer inspected it, I did some close-up inspecting and discovered that the crankcase breather tube had come off the fitting under the tank and it was blowing oil vapour which then accumulated around the fins of the rear jug right where the head gasket would be.

I plugged the hose onto the fitting, cleaned all the oil away and have put on a few thousand miles since and no sign of oil leak.

I figgure the thing wasn't put on right at the factory to begin with.

So the dealer tried blowing smoke up your ass. Thats what most dealers do cause they just want your money. Thats not Vic's fault.
Go to face book and on Vic and Polaris page make your complaints. You will be contacted by them.
Long as there going to pull the motor you should think about cams it will be free labor for half to all of it.
I hope your dealer has smart techs. Before you sign off on the work go over the bike with a fine tooth comb looking for scratches.

I like the tech there and he seems to know his stuff.

I called Victory/Polaris and they opened a case number and reassured me that the dealer had sent pics and filed the claim. It was shortly thereafter that the Vic Dealer GM called me to ask me what I thought about everything. It still doesn't help the fact that I am bikeless now for however long it takes for them to fix it.

I have seen that on bikes before, not sure this is the case but will check it out anyways. It is seeping around the front one.

I'm guessing but i wouldn't be serprised if Vic doesn't send you a hole new motor.
If they do send you a hole new motor make sure the numbers on the motor match.

Yeah riiight, I'm sure that will never happen!

BUT--- they should be ashamed of having a customer's special ordered, numbered edition, so called top of the line edition bike, that I had to wait six weeks for from the Victory factory to make for me, turn out like this.

I'm glad for others that seem to have had no issues with theirs, makes me wish I had saved my 28k and bought one I could ride a few thousand miles without having to rely on a warranty to fix problems that should have been taken care of with a little better quality control at the Polaris headquarters.

Well, they ended up having my bike there for over six weeks. Polaris sent the wrong head 5 times, claimed they were out of them, also they claimed that they had stocked the wrong head under the part number.

Got the bike back in mid November 2012. Put 400 miles on it, now it is leaking worse from the same new front head and Victory is trying to make me pay for the extended warranty deductible and incidentals on a repair that they did just over 2 months ago, since it's over a year old now.

It's been 2 1/2 weeks at the dealer now again and they still have not given me date when it will be fixed.

I'm pretty sick of Victory's hype and bullcrap about how great these bikes are.

I will probably trade it off asap after this round and will never buy another Victory/Polaris product again!

Holy crap. I thought it strange you hadn't been on the forum in such a long time. Now I see why.

What a bunch of crap. Seems so blatantly wrong it seems like there must be more to the story. Every once in a while one hears of the exception rather than the norm.

Victory does indeed seem extremely reluctant on warranty items some times. I had a personal experience that I believed was going to be a bad situation but my dealer/salesman on the other side of the country got secretly involved. Fixed without me knowing he did anything until I got an email from him saying the part was in the mail.

I won't even begin to presume to know all you've done and who you've talked to. There must be someone in the upper ranks to raise the BS flag on. I know it's going to take you screaming like hell to get it done but I hope you do.

I feel for you. I really do.

You meant November 2013 right?

Your warranty is only for a year? I got mine at the end of when they were doing the 5 year. I thought it went to 3. ONE? Really?
