Well, my almost new Vision is down waiting for word from Polaris as to how they are going to fix my leaking and maybe warped head.
Here's the story-
I took it in to get the first 500mi service done and oil changed back in June.
I made a 420mi road trip from Glendale to Winslow through Flagstaff to visit a new casino that had opened up. And returned on another route after taking the scenic route up.
Parked the bike in the garage. I work as an AC Tech in the Phoenix area so I did not have much of a chance to ride it at all this summer, but I started it and would let it warm up a few times. Plus it was pretty hot here this summer in June and July.
During the down time in the garage the battery went fully dead so I moved the bike over closer to a plugin and noticed a spot of fresh oil on the floor from the bike. I was pissed to see it, as I thought that I had spent a good amount of money to finally get a bike that needed little or no repairs and now it had a possible leak from somewhere. I dismissed it as maybe overage or spillage from the recent oil change.
Booked a service appointment for the bike for them to look at why it was shimmying and vibrating at speeds over 60mph? It had been doing this since new. And I wanted them to check and see why it had a wobble when it was in wind or freeway traffic.
So later that day the tech called me and said that it looked like the front wheel had never been balanced, the rear had weights on it but he rebalanced it also and readjusted the rear alignment.
The tech then proceeds to tell me that he noticed there was oil seeping from my heads and it was due to either being warped and I may have gotten a bad one from Victory!
He was at that moment doing a warranty repair on another Vision with exact same problem, and Polaris had taken over two weeks to send the parts?
Well it's been just shy of two weeks now for me without my Ness in some of the best riding weather we have seen this year and I am without my bike.
I got a call from the GM at the Vic dealership the other day and he said they had cleaned the oil of the head and it seemed as though it had stopped? How the [email protected]
#$ does an oil leak cure itself? He wanted me to take it and ride it some and bring it back if it leaked again. I politely told him that there is now way in hell I am picking it up until Victory fixes it and I'm sure that with the Diamond cut heads they should not be happy about new set since the bike is still under the first year warranty until Nov 2nd.
He even suggested that the gasket was bad, maybe the head needed torqued, and that it may have just been getting broke in? I told him that was a bunch of crap as my 04 Ultra Classic never leaked a drop and I had little or no service problems.
This issue seems to be a larger one than I expected as after googling it there seems to be several others out there that have the same problem?
I am very disappointed in the bike and Victory for sending out a product with a bunch of hype as to it's great service and reliability.
No longer will I ever bash Harley again over my Vision when it appears they all have problems, but I can say that the 05 Kawasaki Mean Streak I owned never leaked a drop either, neither did our 08 Honda Spirit, nor our 2010 yamaha Vstar!
I read elsewhere that Victory had produced a bunch of porous warped heads in 2012-13 models and many now have the same problem?
It's going to be very hard to ever trust Victory or my Vision again after this-
Any comments would be welcome
