So crossed up is referring to the rider being upright while the bike is leaned over. If you're drawing a line down the center of the rider (torso) and the center of the bike vertically the lines would cross. I'm guessing this is where the terminology comes from. Either way, it makes sense to me, and thanks for the clarification.

This topic makes me want to go ride and practice.

Side note - I've always wondered why I don't drag my floorboards. This totally explains it. I grew up on sport bikes and any time I want to get my hustle on I tend to move around and hang a cheek at a minimum. To be honest I felt a little less than manly not having thrown sparks off my XC. I drug the shlitz out of my Hammer pegs, but that riding position was much harder to ride like a sportbike, hanging off the inside. With my XC and the huge floorboards and more upright positioning I'm able to pull up over the tank more and bring my feet under me, giving me the means to move around and hang off the inside.
I've noticed others dragging stuff and always thought they must be faster or more aggressive, and they still may be but I've seemed to keep up just fine without looking like I have sparklers attached to my bags.

You can still drag floorboards with the correct riding style. In fact, the guy that you see riding the Police Bike does it all the time. I have seen him in action. It is not dangerous to drag your floorboards as long as you know your limitations. thumb up

There is a big difference in this discussion. The Victory Police riders on the tight courses is a LOT different than someone traveling @ 45MPH around a corner on the Dragon as this thread is about. I think everyone here would agree that knowing WHEN you will hit is VERY important on these higher speed runs. Hitting without expectation can "un-settle" your handling and end up with you dropping a few hundred feet off the edge of a mountain road as opposed to bumping while traveling 5MPH and hitting a cone.

I know what the thread is about as I started it with my picture on the dragon. My point is, you can drag the floorboards safely regardless of body position. I do it all the time....if you know your bike well enough it is not a shock. The key is not to drag hard parts.

Oops, Sorry about that my web-enabled friend! I did not notice it was you posting. I do agree with you just didn't want someone thinking that dragging @ 5MPH was the same as dragging @ 45MPH. Mercy? thumb up

That is sick, I had no doubt that the Vision could get low in a turn. I am more concerned about hitting a hard part and having that tire come up off the ground. Had that almost happen to a friend and his wife on his HD, she is way to pretty for road rash :) He said scared the **** out of him, and we plan on hitting the dragon next year. Me Ill go for the cruise lol

I was there last weekend as well. Only I did 2226 miles in 4 days. I do believe I'm going to have to find a different seat before I do something like that again.
