That's a loaded question that would lead to too many hypothesis I think. Vision haters against vision lovers, dogs and cats adopting squirrels. It would never end. What is it that has you second guessing. Two very different bikes so tell us what's up. I have talked to more than 1 Vic rider, not noobs either, that didn't realize the air in the shock made that much handling difference.

Is it wind, comfort, too much space, storage, power on the road, 2 up vs 1 up, looks, too much conversation during fuel stops, what?

I can tell you I have modded for any short fall if found with the vision and I have XCT buddies that have done the same.

You have one huge difference, nothing else matters. You are riding a fixed fairing and talking about switching to a fork mounted fairing. To me you either love the vision or don't. It took me some time to adjust to that just like when I rode my buddies GW coming off a TC. Fork over fixed got their quirks.

You gotta love a vision and if you don't the XCT is a Great ride. I'm sure with more info you will get the answers you need.
Style of riding, height, how your spending time on the road (I'm a 1 up commuter most of the time).

It could be a mistake, but only you can tell. If your not happy with your Vision then probably a good idea.

I would really hate to lose the adjustable windshield and Hydraulic clutch, and handling of the Vision. More storage might be nice though.

How many times if any have you road a cc?
Ask dealer if you can have it for a hour and ride it just don't stand and look at it.
Think most guys change the bars on the cc and all complain about wind buffeting and you have to spend a lot of money on pipes.
When I bought my vision I test road five different ones in a two week time. Then a month after I bought the vision I test road a cc and new right a way I made the right choice. Yes the cc holds a lot on trips and looks nice but its hard to beat the vision I think

OK heres the deal. The first time I saw a Vision tour I thought it looked stupid and didn't give it another thought until a year later when I saw one without the trunk. Then I rode a Vision 8 ball at Myrtle bike week and was impressed but I don't like all black also rode a vision Tour but it felt like I was trying to hold up a telephone pole it was so top heavy. Test rode a Yamaha Royal star , not impressed. Then rode an 09 Arlen ness Vision and I was almost giggling like a school girl. So I bought a new Tour in 2011 rode it to Daytona and removed the trunk as soon as I got home. Definitely a conversation piece any time I stop and that's one thing I know I would miss because the XC is very nice but almost conventional. My problem is 3 years is like an eternity for me with vehicles and Im kicking around the idea of changing up.

Well now, if that's the case my question would be what mods have you done? If your looking to change up, putting some pep in the step I think will keep you in the same saddle. Your sig doesn't have your configuration so gotta ask. I can tell you that when I added a flip 15" screen it really changed how much I enjoy the wind management. Then came ATS and a VFCIII. Lasted a few months then off to lloydz. I can safely tell you every day I ride the Vision I cannot stop smiling. The power improvement, sound OD the honkers, pulling the front end off the ground like a dirt bike..... I can't get enough of it. If you like the bike but feel the need for a lil change up like something different I think I would go after some HP and torque. I'll leave you with this thought. I run a car tire because I choose to. That son of a gun has a bald streak wearing down the middle? Why? Because it's fun!

Default One vs the other

I have ridden both bikes and still prefer the Vision over the Tour. Wind management and comfort the Vison works best for me.

I was at the dealer today getting new headlights and they had a 2014 Vision selling for 17,900 before dickering and a 2014 CCTour listed at 23,500. For the money difference I think I would be giving up a lot to get a little more saddlebag storage. I can actually buy a pretty nice trailer, hitch and wiring and still have less money invested.

The cheapest thing to buy is what YOU want though. And maybe the wife.

ATGATT because walking away in disgust is better than riding away in an ambulance.

Never get to busy making a living that you forget to make a life.

I called the dealer today and told him Im gonna hold on to the vision at least another year. After some soul searching Ive realized when it comes to touring bikes nothing impresses me like the vision. The storage space isn't a big issue for me , Ive ridden to Daytona 3 times with no problems. Everytime we ride with a group of bikes I always have to lead because the bike ( looks like it should be up front ) they say. On the freeway people haul ass to get beside me and stay there while they gawk at it. Im sure youve all been through it too. None of the Victorys look like any other bikes but the Vision takes that even further looking completely different. I haven't ridden a XC since I bought my bike so I cant remember if they ride as good. I got the itch to trade for a good deal but Ill take another year of depreciation and see how it goes next year. I keep hearing rumors they are gonna restyle the Vision soon , might wait and see how that goes.

I have been lucky enough that one friend has a 2012 CC and the other a 2011 Road Glide. We trade bikes on a regular basis just for fun. I ALWAYS love going back to my Vision and convinces me to keep it even more.

For me, the Cross Country has terrible wind management. My buddy even has the tall windshield and 2" pull back bars. It sits nice but not as comfy as the Vision. Turbulence behind the bars is terrible in MY opinion.

The Road Glide is... well...heavy, feels bulky at any speed in the corners and shakes like my grandma. He does have high bars - puts my hands almost at my shoulder height , he is about 6" taller than myself, comfy to him). After riding it then getting back on my, I feel like I'm on a Sport Bike!! Of course, being a Harley I feel 10% cooler - like the Fonz!

BUT... either as a group or by myself or with the wife - people always gravitate to my bike. Wife last time asked if this always happens and I had to say yes. They glance at my buddies bikes and then come over. Of course, most you know what I'm talking about. Its a nice feeling until your in a hurry! I think I might miss that...I'm finally popular!!!

Yes, I love my Vision! ... although that new Indian Cheiftain Roadmaster...
