Cool 2009 Vision Cruise Control Issue

Hey all, so here's what's going on:

I rode to work the other day and turned on my front seat warmer(I know, it's summer....what was I thinking?) and it worked just fine. I used my cruise control just like I usually do and all was fine.

I was riding home, turned the CC (cruise control) on, got the power red light on the control, hit the set button and?........nothing. No green indicator on the speedo, no CC, just decelleration and a WTH look on my face. I tried several times and got the same result. I got home, pulled the fuse panels under the windshield and checked fuses thinking that I might get lucky (for a change..lol..don't tell her I said that or she'll kill me). Well, I did! passenger side fuse block, 20A for chassis was burnt. So..I replaced it and felt proud of myself for figuring this thing out and finding the fuse right off the bat (but I did go and check the rest just in case).

Got on the bike early this morning headed to work and figured I would try out my handing Mr. Fit-it skills......NOTHING!!!!! same thing as before. Am I missing something somewhere? Is there something else that I can check? THX in advance for the help and I hope you have enjoyed my little story..lol.

There was a service bulletin around 18 months ago I think about the nuts on the cruise cable at the throttle body coming loose. Not sure it applies to your year but just a thought.

didn't you post this a few days ago.
you don't have to start the bike turn key on turn on cruise now hit the break do the front check the fuse if good hit the foot break.
If fuse still good look below right hand handlebar you should see two wires going into the idle cable check them.
If still nothing your going to have to pull the dash and check the wires.

What have you done to bike as of late. Hope you have a volt meter.

I have not done anything new to the bike prior to this happening..it just happened (other than turning on the seat warmer). I do have a volt meter so if I need to check for things... I am sitting by. I also have the full maint manual that I looked thru last night about checking the CC and looking for flashing codes, checking the lash ect. I will try that this weekend as well. By checking the brake levers and then the fuses, am I to assume I am checking for a short? The seat warmer still doesn't come on just like the CC, even after I replaced the one 20A chassis fuse but I haven't checked the fuse since replacing it two or three days ago.

I checked the same chassis fuse as before and found it burnt again. I made sure the seat warmers were turned off and ran the CC checks in the Maint manual. They all passed and I ran the CC lash program to ensure that was set properly. I did read a couple CC codes: 113 and 122. The manual just says what they are but not what I can check to fix it or if there is a reset somewhere to start over (other than disconnecting the battery I would assume).

I rode to work this morning after running all the tests last night and the CC came on and set; however, I have to hold the "set" button for about 3-5 seconds then release before I get the green symbol on the cluster and it engages. That's different than it was and I don't know if that is the correct function or if it was right before. Prior to this issue, I would simply press the set button and it engaged and the symbol came right up.

Like i said in the first post and you checked all that pull the dash and see if power is going from the handlebar switch to the cruise.
Are both wire on the return cable below the right hand handlebar

I just got through changing my CC module out it's an 08 model.
My CC stopped working about 200 miles from home back in May of this year, I have the Lloyd'z quarter turn throttle ring in it so my hand was pretty tired, anyway. I bought a used from the junk yard CC module because I'm a cheap bastard and installed it (what a pain in the a$$).
After everything was back together I ran a diagnostic check on the New to me CC module and it said that my Brake Lamp (disengage) the numbers that flashed are 1 2 2, well I removed everything on the rear of the bike trying to find something wrong with my Brake Lamps and there was nothing wrong with it at all so why is it telling me it's the Brake Lamp!?
So I did more trouble shooting and went to every possible connection in the system(another pain in the A$$) and couldn't find anything wrong until I reach in between the right side of the tank area and found the cable throttle switch, the front wire was loose so I took a pair of pliers and squeezed down on the connecter to tighten it and replugged in back in and ran another diagnostic test and it said once again Brake Lamp(disengage) and I was pissed so I give up....well Sunday I went for a ride and got out on the interstate and just for Sh!t and grins I turn on the CC and hit the Set button and low and behold it came on and worked perfectly for the whole day.....so if I was you I would look down at the throttle cable switch and unhook it and see if it's loose....it may help or it may not, who knows!?

If I had to hold a switch closed for several seconds to engage anything, I would be checking the switch contacts.

Default Did you get this resolved?

I haven't had my Vision even a week yet, but, I am an electrician by trade. I don't have a service manual either but there may be several optioned electrical features on one circuit, though I wouldn't expect the cc to be on the same fuse as a seat heater.
For a fuse to blow suggests a defective heater element (shorted) or an exposed conductor touching the grounded frame. The 20 amp fuse may be supplying several smaller branch circuits. It'd be easier to find a shorted circuit if it remained shorted while checking. Intermittent problems can be hard to pin point.
Does the fuse blow as soon as it's replaced or after riding a bit and/or using the seat heater or cruise control?
