Default Klock Werks Install Question??

Okay need some help from you guys that have installed this windshield? reading the instructions I'm to use the (4)M6 X16 button head screws, (4) Bushings, (4) Rubber washers? It says to place the bushing collar inside the windshield hole and the flange sandwiches the rubber washer against the windshield? Looking at my pic's I don't have a bushing with flanged collar on them I have what you see? I'm I missing something here?

If I remember correctly, I just used the bolts and washers that I took off the other shield. 8k miles so far and it's still pristine with the exception of bug splatter. I couldn't get the setup they gave me to work to my liking, hence the reason I went with the Vic bolts and washers. Mine did have the Vic short windshield when I went to the klockwerks flare so that may make a difference too...

Well, if you look at my pic, the original washers are destroyed. I will try and fit test the original screws and if it works I'll just use the washers from the KW windshield.

Just an opinion, Go to your local hardware store that sells felt or rubber washers and install two per every bolt,one on each side of the windshield and just make the bolts snug. I also have the klock flare on my Xc.

I had the KlockWerks Flare installed by the dealer in March 2012, as part of the setup work for my '12 XCT. (The bikes come in a crate without any windshield on, and so I told the dealer to give me the tall XCT stock windshield -- which I sold -- and put the Flare on -- which I paid for.)

I used the Flare for the first season and a little bit more, with no cracking or other problems. Here are a couple of close-up pics of the washer situation (looking from the right side of the bike, toward the center); unfortunately, there are some reflections that you'll have to deal with, but this is the best I can do. If these are not clear or large enough, PM me with your email address, and I'll send you the originals.

I installed two klockwerks shields recently and used the hardware supplied by Klockwerks. It consisted of the shoulder bushing and three rubber washers for each hole. One rubber washer goes between the windscreen and the bike. This one has adhesive on one face to hold it to the windscreen during mounting. The other two washers go between the shoulder of the bushing and the windscreen. The purpose of all of all of this is to prevent cracking of the windscreen which has been reported to be a problem if mounted using the stock Victory hardware. The bushing goes through the hole in the windscreen and bottoms out against the bike. This allows the force exerted by the bolt to push on the bushing and not on the windscreen thus putting less stress on the windscreen. The rubber washers hold the wind screen in place on the bushing and prevent it from rattling.

I recommend that you contact Klock Werks and get/buy the proper hardware.

Okay, here is what came in my hardware package. What I'm confused about is how they expect you to use the button head screw to secure the windshield with those rubber washers?? See pic

I don't have any metal washers that came with my hardware bag is that what your using? The picture is fine just need to figure out if my hardware is correct or not?

I apologize for not understanding your confusion. That hardware pack is exactly correct. Did it not come with instructions? In any case, let me describe the mounting and hopefully that will clear things up. Remove and discard ALL existing windscreen hardware. None of it will be reused.

At each of the four holes in the windscreen, clean the inside surface near each hole. Then attach one of the adhesive rubber washers to the INSIDE surface of the windscreen at each hole. Now carefully position the windscreen into place on the fairing taking care not to scrape any of the adhesive washers off.

Put two of the rubber washers onto each shoulder bushing and then insert the bushing into the windscreen hole from the outside surface. Put one bolt through each bushing and loosely tighten into place. Do not tighten all the way. It may be necessary to wiggle and or flex the windscreen slightly in order to align the windscreen holes with the threaded mounting holes in the fairing thus allowing the bolts to go into place.

After all four bolts are in place and mostly but not all the way tightened, wiggle the windscreen too adjust it so that each hole is roughly centered on the bushing and now tighten each of the four bolts to its final tightness. I am sure there is a torque spec for this and it is not that high but I don't remember the specific value. Note that each bolt has red loctite on it already so this will hold them in place. You do NOT want to strip out any of the threaded holes into which the bolts fit. The windscreen is NOT held in place by the bolt torque but, rather, by the compression of the washers against the windscreen.

I have the instructions but the hardware callout is confusing me? According to the instructions, it shows a diagram of how the hardware needs to be installed: 1x button head screw, bushings and rubber washer! The head of the screw is smaller them the diameter hole in the windshield and will just push the rubber washer through the windshield hole?
