Default 2014 XC oil pressure light flicker

Strange happening today. Bike had been ridden for an hour, stopped for about a 1/2 hour, started back up and rode for 10 minutes. Sitting at a red light, every thing sounds and feels normal and I look down and the oil pressure light is flickering rapidly. Blip the throttle and it goes away. Bike has 3700 mi. Vic 20W-40 oil that is about 500 miles on it. Stopped at the next station and checked oil, full, no leaks or anything else odd. Temperature was about 53 F. Didn't do it again all the way home. Never had this happen before on any of my other bikes.
Anybody sell an oil pressure gauge kit?

In three years, c. 27,000 miles, of XCT ownership, I had the light come on once. It was after starting up, after the bike was sitting in the rain all day. I stopped and checked the level at a gas station -- it was okay -- got back on, and a few miles later the light went off.

I've read that this has happened to at least one other owner, again, during or after rain. You hadn't just washed the bike or anything like that, had you?

I'm unaware of any aftermarket pressure system for our bikes. I had started a project in which I wanted to add a digital oil temp gauge, but eventually gave up on it (after ordering some parts) because of assorted sensor-placement issues.

Cheers,

Bill P.

I would go to your dealer and have them document your concern, and get a copy....

your oil sending switch might have a little dirt or a drop of water shorting out the connection or the switch is bad.
When your kick stand is up look passed the end of it and there is your switch and wire. Pull wire off clean it real good and the connector. You can tell the dealer but I dough they will do anything.
You can take the switch to a auto parts store and get a new one.
Some Vic's did come with a rubber boot over the switch that trapped water in there.
This is what it look like

I think it turned out to be a wiring issue.
Grounding the wire will cause the light to come on. So a dirty or bad connection won't cause it to come on, it would cause it to NOT come on when it should.
Anyways, I found the wire to be as tight as a guitar string between the main harness under the sidecover, and the switch. It was pulled tight against some brackets / shields and was rubbing the swing arm. I lengthened the wire and re-routed it away from any moving parts and heat. We'll see what happens.
I still wouldn't mind an engine mounted gauge. I'd need a tee down at the engine to be able to mount the stock sending unit, and a tap for an AN fitting to the gauge.
