Default Rust on saddlebag studs?

My XR came with the leather bags and today I noticed a little surface rust forming on the chrome studs, any way to treat/prevent this?

Kury passenger floorboards
Heel shifter

Polish them with some mag rim cleaner.

2011 Cross Roads Sunset Red
OEM short windshield, passenger backrest, crash bars, saddle bag bars, heated grips, vinyl closeouts, tachometer, ambient temp, LED headlight, luggage rack. WD lay down licence plate.

spray them down with WD-40 once clean wax often
