Default Radio Reception Problems? Possible Cause Found on my bike.

Just thought I would throw out a possible cause of your poor reception with the stock radio antenna. My Vic had very poor reception and I thought that was about normal (having read some of the threads on it) and considered changing the antenna to attempt to remedy the problem. However, on further examination I found the likely culprit in my issue. The antenna cable had slipped under the triple tree and the turning of the front wheel had rubbed through the cable. It abraded the cable and caused the ground shield to come in contact with the center conductor, effectively severing the antenna from the radio. I can't say whether or not this is a widespread issue or just a one-off on my bike, but if you're running into problems with reception trace the path of your antenna wire and ensure it's not being pinched. Good luck and Good riding.

its funny, ive had my bike for a little over a year, and I think ive turned on the radio twice. I went and bought a 8gb ipod for $35 off craigslist (it was probably stolen, and was full of tranny porn, but $35 and it works great). Im just wondering if I get this soundstream amp that im looking at, am I suddenly going to want to listen to the radio. I keep saying im going to take that stubby antenna off and trash it just to clean up the look, but I know as soon as I do ill want to listen to 103.7.
