Default Passenger Backrest question

I picked up my bike a few days after I bought it because they didn't have the parts in stock and were put on when I took delivery. I took off the passenger backrest yesterday because the better half doesn't go with me much when it gets cold. My question is with the plastic "grommets" that the bar locks on to. Do you guys leave them on? Will they blow off because I noticed you just pull them apart to get them off. I would rather leave them on, one less thing for me to loose but if there is a chance of them blowing off then I will take them off.

2011 Cross Roads Sunset Red
OEM short windshield, passenger backrest, crash bars, saddle bag bars, heated grips, vinyl closeouts, tachometer, ambient temp, LED headlight, luggage rack. WD lay down licence plate.

Smart move. I have over 11,000 miles and still have the grommets. They are a stock item and sell at bearing suppliers as bushings.
